Hi Bees! My wedding is 4 months away, so I’m preparing ahead of time, but what have you all done about tan lines? I haven’t been to the beach or pool in a while, but what gets me is the sports bra / tank top tan lines from running and walking my dog. I know I need to start wearing more sunscreen, but it is very hard to get the lines to go away. I plan on spray tanning beforehand, but I’m afraid it wont cover it up. Any thoughts?

I wore only strapless bathing suits to the beach all summer before my October wedding, whenever you go out running/walking the dog make sure you wear high spf regardless of what time of day you are going. Spray tan will cover up minor tan lines, it won’t cover up tan lines if the contrast of skin color is great. I think in order to have a peace of mind leave the sunscreen by your running shoes/leash so it reminds you to apply before you step outside your house 🙂

I wore strapless bikinis and a technical t shirt or even long sleeved with sunscreen when hiking.

I made sure to do all yard work in tube tops, and then went a few times to a tanning salon both to even out everythig I could, and also to build up some melanin to prevent from burning on our wedding moon. Then, I kept any swim straps minimal on the two days leading up to our destrination elopment wedding, It seemed to work.

I’m hitting the tanning salon about once a week once summer really gets rolling to avoid this issue.

You may have to invest in a tanning membership just to even things out. The only reason I have one is for this and it helps with acne. I go MAYBE once every 2 weeks for 12 minutes and it solves all my problems.

USE SUNSCREEN!! Every day! Especially on your arms and chest to prevent excessive discoloration. On the beach use high SPF on arms face and neck and moderate spf everywhere else to get slightly more tan on your white parts. When you’re ready to have a makeup trial go to Sephora and have yourself matched with their color matching machine. Purchase the foundation for yourself. Then your MUA will use that foundation to cover your shoulders, back, face and arms. Mine did, and even though I had some tan difference in my face and shoulders, everything matched nicely, and the skin wasn’t orange, like a spray tan can make you.

SHIIIIIIIT. I didn’t even think of this. I am getting married in Jamaica and will be there for 5 days before my guests arrive. I am tanning before hand, but I didn’t even think about what I will do if I get tan lines from a swimsuit while there. :(. Following this thread to see what people say. My dress is open back, so even if I wore strapless/bikini I would still have a visible tan line. I guess I can tan enough to the point where I can’t get any darker and then wear max SPF while on the beach.

I wore tube tops if possible (at the river/home/beach) or just athletic breathable long sleeves (but hot here is like 75 degrees). I did do indoor tanning for 3-4 weeks before the wedding as well (we got married in mexico & I wanted to build a small base so I didn’t burn in 10 minutes there since I’m so super caspar white). I even applied a little sunless tanner just inside my white no-tan lines to try & even things out which helped but not much. I did lay out and tan and when I did that I un-did the back of my top while lying down so I wouldnt have lines there either (i had a very low back).
