What about using clear plactic wire? It’s a bit stronger than dental floss and it will be hardly noticable. You could also use clear fishing line. I think this idea sounds great and that you could really make them look like real candles if you buy the LED lights that flicker. Play with a few ideas and it will work beautifully 🙂

Can you post a picture for reference?  Some of us haven’t had a chance to see it yet!  🙂

Have you run this by the people in charge at the church? I’m not so sure they will allow this kind of decorating in the church.

You might be better off using them to decorate your reception area.  Especially if you’re having an evening reception and your room allows more decoration.

Also, instead of hanging lights (which could be hard with high ceilings) what about large groupings of white pillar candles?  That might be easier to do in a church yet have a similar effect.

Eeeee! I’m totally using the sky lanterns from Tangled as well. However, we are not using them as decoration, but as a send off (instead of say sparklers). Theyre 100% biodegradable and as long as they don’t mind you lighting stuff outside, you should be fine. Here is a video of them!

I saw that someone who had a “dark” interior used black balloons with different lengths of black ribbons (tied silk autumn leaves) -maybe it will work for you?
