I have never gotten a spray tan before – but, my friends have.  One other thing with the spray tan – you cannot get a pedicure w/in 24 hours (the soaking of your feet will remove tanning lotion).  So, plan accordingly!

I have been a historical tanner at tanning salons.  Terrible, I know.  I gave it up about a year ago.  Not worth the risk.

I have been using dove tanning lotion lately and it’s pretty good!  Since my wedding is in October and my summer glow will be faded, I am considering a spray tan.  I will probably get one in the near future just to see how it looks and if it’s natural looking on me.

I was just going to say the same thing about the pedicure right after, but Erindesmar beat me to it

My sister got a spray tan then was getting a pedicure at the same place. Right when she stuck her feet in I said "aren’t you not supposed to get wet for 24 hours?" but it was too late! She had to get it fixed. Moral of the story (besides don’t get a pedi right after) is: don’t count on the salon to know everything! They booked it that way. haha! We did have a good laugh about it.

I will be tanning before my wedding. I have started to go a few times a week already. I know how bad it is, but I personally cannot stand the look of a spray tan. My friend got one for her wedding and it was uneven on her face and she looked like an orange pumpkin in her ivory dress! I suggest you try it out before (like the other girls have said) and see what is best for you!

What’s scary is the damage doesn’t always show up immediately..it can be years later like it was with my friend …he’s got weeks to live..it’s very sad.  Pray for him every day.  It was on his head, and had been removed several years ago but there had been some lymph node involvement so he went the whole shebang for treatment including chemo and some radiation.

It stopped for a while..then spread mercilessly.  He recently had a stroke and his head is swollen up..it’s a horrible way to end.  He’s such a wonderful, truly lovely person, I choke up when thinking about it.

If you knew what I did..or saw the friend I know slowly die, you’d swear off salon tanning forever.  And wear sunscreen.  And this is coming from a girl who in her 20’s was a 2 time Miss America prelim winner and had to look tannish for swimsuit competition.  I THOUGHT I needed that kind of tan.  I just hope it doesn’t happen to me.

I haven’t done that in years since seeing my first cases of melanoma..
