OP is a grown woman with a brain in her head and has stated she knows the risks associated with tanning beds and also why she cannot use DHA based tans. Sounds like she doesn’t want or need any ‘advice’ regarding this, though I know this topic is emotive and difficult from personal points of view.

To answer your question I’ve only used a bed a couple of times as the smell freaked me out but I’m fair and started with 3 mins. I think I went twice a week for a couple of weeks but didn’t go for longer than 3 mins.

Your skin is darker than mine but I’d start low and slow.

blushingbridelove :  Definitely start slow, especially if you are fair! Someone told me recently that they went to a place and were recommended to start out with 2 minutes because the bulbs are better these days (?). I used to tan and it was so relaxing, I do miss it.

Good luck! Remember what I said about your face! Lol.  High SPF and cover with something like a towel for at least like half or 2/3 the time you are in.  I’ve never had a noticeable tan line from this.  Also remember you’ll be wearing makeup anyway.  Sorry to double post lol I just have grown up on Long Island lol.  By sophomore year of high school I could tell which girls tanned their faces because they looked 35 years old

blushingbridelove :  I also wanted to be a little tan for my wedding, but I just used SPF and laid outside during the summer. Im sure you can get it going the old fashioned way by August right? Get a swimsuit that works with the lines of your dress.

blushingbridelove :  I did not tan for my wedding, but used to use tanning beds in college.  I’m light olive toned naturally, and can get a pretty deep tan fairly easily, so it sounds like we have a similar skin tone.  I remember starting at 5/6 minutes (depending on the strength of the bulbs/how new they were) and working my way up.
