I am fake and baking it…I did a spray tan, wasn’t wild about it. Looked pretty good for a very brief time. My concern; whenever I would sweat, I sweated my tan. Getting married in August, so sweating is inevitable. Don’t want to stain everything with my tanning slough!
So how far out would you suggest I start? 3 or 4 months? I don’t want to be crazy dark, just a bit glowy minus the winter ghost and tan lines I always get.

I’m starting next week so for me that’s like 6 weeks out. Tanning doesn’t usually take too long. Just remember to start out slow like 3 or 4 minutes tanning time so you don’t get burnt then have to wait for the burn to go away and start over.

@Take The Reins: I would say about 6 weeks out.

Atleast 6 weeks out, I started at 4 and it wasn’t enough time, I still had lines.

Cool, that’s even better! I do tend to tan quickly, so that sounds about perfect!

i work in a tanning salon. i would suggest min 6 weeks ahead. to be honest i would start now get the good colour and then you just have to go 1-2 times a week to maintain the colour.
listen to the girls when they try and sell you a lotion too. they are not just saying to make a sale and will go through all the different options you have. do not ever tan without a lotion, this i can tell you. a lotion will tan you faster and give you a better colour than if you tanned without. also many lotions on the market offer ingredients to tan you while also blocking free radicals.
switch between stand-up and lay down beds. stand up is the only way to get an all around tan, but everyone likes to lay down and relax 🙂
any other questions feel free to PM me 🙂

I’m getting married in August too and I’m going to start tanning next month probably. I only want to go a couple times a week and I want to get quite a bit darker so I’m starting early.

@futurewiddy: to get a tan i would suggest going every other day or 2 days and then skipping a day. people that go once or twice a week who are looking to get darker dont see the colour they want to.

It depends on how quickly you tan and how tan you are year round…
I tan really easily and I maintain a regular tan on my arms/face/chest from working outside and running, so I honestly only went maybe 10 times (basically every other day) and got really tan, I actually had to take a break because I was getting so dark. But I’m trying to even out tan lines so I have to get a bit tanner than I’d like and let it fade.
It just depends on your skin. I think the longer you tan (not the more you tan, but the longer week wise) the more natural the tan looks. So give yourself at least 4 weeks, 6 weeks is optimal and only go a few times a week so you don’t get to dark. 🙂 And use a good lotion, it will help give you a better color and will last longer.

to stay healthy and to not overdose UV, you should tan once a week (12-15 min), start with low intesity (2-3 times, really depends on how quicly you can tan and what your skin tone) than switch to high intensity. i used to work in tanning salon, so I would say you’ll need at least 5 sessions to see what color you can develop. Remember to put a cream before tanning and after a shower before you get to bed. I know that doctors recommend tanning once a month for 10 min to level your endorfins:) Good luck with your tanning!

I have an olive complexion and signed up on September 30th for my November 5th wedding…soo 5 weeks?
It was a perfect amount of time. I went tanning 3-4 days a week.
I was the perfect tone. Not too dark, not too light and no tan lines!

I’m starting 3-4 months out.. and I just want a glow since I’m pasty and white! I’ll probably go 1-2 times a week and 3 weeks before the wedding I’m stopping just so that I don’t look orange? or anything…

I’m starting 4 weeks out and I am pretty white. I go everyday when I tan (6 -5 a week). Even when I’m technically burnt by their standards I go for 3-4 minutes. I do cover my face every other time. By week three I am up to 12 minutes and then I can just do a maintance 6 minutes the two days before. I will probably still tan the day of.
