so i started tanning today! (yes i am aware of the risks ;)) and i was wondering, what kind of lotion do you all use??? brand? etc? and to you use a tan extending body lotion? what brand works best? i absolutely hate the lotions with the cool tingly stuff in them, and right now i am using one with brozer and excelerator (swedish beauty? i think…) what is best ??

i don’t really tan anymore, but I used to. I really liked the lotions with bronzing agents in them. I noticed a HUGE change of color! I always used the designer skin lotions (i know, pricey) and my favorite was in a sparkly bottle and had a “quadruple bronzer.”
Honestly, I think all those lotions are a marketing ploy and they all probably work the same.

I think the brand Designer Skin has the best lotions. I use bronzers and love them!!

I really like the Jergen’s Natural Glow lotion. Really nice and moisturizing and very subtly increases your tan/glow over time.

i use the designer skin brand as well. I also think most lotions do the same trick…regardless of the price tags. Everything you read says the most important factor to tanning is your skin needs to be moisturized prior to getting in the bed…any lotion will do this pretty much. How dark you get truly depends on your skin type. I’ve used every type of lotion you can think of and I still only reach a certain level of ‘dark’. and since I dont get as dark from the bed as I feel I want to be, I use the Jergens self tan in the can..it comes out as a mousse. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I tan about 3 days a week just to keep a base color and I use the Jergens about every 2 days – I put it on at night after my shower and shaving and I wake up the next morning with an awesome tan! 🙂

Hollywood tans extreme bronze=awesome!

I use a tingle. Love that stuff. I like the idea of mixing a good bronzing lotion with some sort of subtle self tanning lotion. But I would worry I would start to turn orange. Does the Jergens lotion seem to stay a good natural color? I’ve never used it.

I usually always get a tan easily during the summer just from being outside but for the wedding since it was in May I wasn’t going to get it that way. So I went tanning for about 2 months before the wedding. I used a lotion with an accelerator/bronzer and did the stand up tanning. It worked well for me, but I also tan easily rather than burn so I’m not sure that it would work well for everyone.

Tanning for my wedding I used a Hawaiian tropic indoor tanning lotion- it was cheap and worked well. Now that the wedding is over I like Banana Boat sunless tanner. I have to stay tan to fit in in Florida but I’m not going to do all that damage to my skin! It was nice to have a real tan for the wedding though.

I use Smolder…it has a tingling and bronzing effect, = AMAZING! and you won’t have to go tanning 100 times!
