I can’t make a decision about anything dress related and I’m really starting to piss myself off with my indecisiveness. I tried on this dress today and really thought it fit my body perfectly, I scheduled an appointment for Wed. to purchase the dress and now I am having second thoughts. It’s not a beaded, sparkley dress that I imagined wearing…it fits nice but it doesn’t wow me…I wish I could see other real brides wearing this dress but can’t find any online and the shop wouldn’t let me take photos…
The main problem is I :LIKE: NEARLY EVERY DRESS I TRY ON!!! I know I am capable of being “wowed” because I have been before with dresses I’ve worn for other occassions… am I setting my expectations too high? Should I just walk naked down the aisle? WTF! Is the dress too boring? Why do I decide one minute I really like it but just can’t “bite the bullet”?

oops, can someone please relocate this to the dress section? Thanks!!

I can’t really give you advice because I’m the same way. 🙁 I think I love a dress and then have second thoughts and then find another one I feel like I like just as much. I’ll probably have dress regret if I just take everyone’s advice and stop looking. It was much easier saying yes to the guy… 🙂
That being said, I think it’s a gorgeous dress and it’s not boring at all.

It’s lovely, but it doesn’t sound like this is your dress. I tried on over 100 dresses before purchasing the one that I bought. You’ll know when you don’t want to go looking anymore.

@Sheesh19: ugh I can’t stand this feeling!! It’s like I want to pick a dress and be done with it but I am NOT okay with picking a dress I’m not 150% sure is the one for fear of the whole dress regret thing!
@louisianablue: wow that is alot of dresses!! I’d be willing to do that too, if someone could guarantee that I’d find the one I love at the end of it!!
My problem is that I can’t even decide on a basic sillhouette that I like…for example, I like the sillhouette above but now I also like this one:
Maybe I’ll do a good ol’ poll

The Tara Keely is really pretty but thread-stalking you, I would say I’m a huge fan of 1) the dress above, which has a similar style to the one your Fiance picked… and then 2) #5 on your poll.
Like louisianablue said, it doesn’t sound like your dress 🙂 And with almost a year to your wedding, if you’re not happy now, that’s plenty of time for dress regret to set in.

@Dell79: Just from the little I know about you from reading your posts, I don’t think that Tara Keely has the wow factor that you’re seeking. I definitely think you need some bling! 🙂

I reallllly like the Tara Keely but I’m more of a subtle dress, BIG STATEMENT JEWELS type of girl. I dont think the dress is boring at all but it’s also not very dramatic. What’s your venue? (As an NYC bride myself)

I love Tara Keely’s dresses…the low back…SEXY, the lace lovely! but I’m biased. 🙂

Like you need another option 😉 but have you looked at Jim Hjelm dresses? I loved them when I first started looking and almost went with one. There seem to be quite a few that sound like what you’re looking for 🙂 just a thought.

Do you have any ideas on your dream dress? You may search online for more dresses and choose the one you feel in love with immediately. It maybe better that you will find the dress you want.

I feel you girl. I had the same problem! I loved something about every dress and they all looked good on me. I make the big mistake of buying 3 dresses though so I hope you don’t fall into the same categorie that I did! My advice would be to wait. Wait until THE dress finds you. It will happen, I promise. You have plenty of time. Just keep looking. Also, make sure you go to a salon where you trust the consultant. I never would have even tried MY dress on if it wasn’t for her. She really listened to the things I liked and disliked. She was a real miracle worker! I don’t think you have to narrow down the silhouette. I was a little undecided myself whether to go with aline or trumpet. It’ll work out, don’t worry 🙂

@quirky_tersa: haha that’s awesome…#5 is still in the back of my mind too…I’m going to try on dress #2 above tomorrow and see what my mom thinks!
@Brielle: I know, I tried swapping out the belt for one that had some more bling factor but it looked odd with the lace
@nushka: Here is a link to the venue:
At first I thought a more modern dress might look odd in such an old synagogue, but the caterer’s added a ton of more modern touches so I *think* I could go either way with it
@meraj081: YES! I <3 Jim Hjelm dresses and actually this TK dress was based off of a JH dress that I loved…I still keep going back and forth as to whether or not the dress is just too simple though and I know JH is known for his “understated elegance”
@WangYue: I thought the Tara Keely dress was my dream dress when I saw photos of it online, and I LOVED the way it fit me in person BUT it didn’t sparkle and I didn’t feel that “I don’t want to take this dress off” feeling…
@kalliope82: Thank you! I made a second appointment with the shop that has the Tara Keely dress on Wednesday…I’ll be there with my mom and Future Mother-In-Law so I’ll hear their opinions but won’t commit to it unless I really feel it is the one….getting so sick of looking though!!

Ok I finally found the link to the dress (was bugging me all day!): http://www.jlmcouture.com/Jim-Hjelm/Bridal/Additional/Style-8153
When you go there, the larger pic isn’t it but the three thumbnails are it.
Allergicbee – is this the one you were liking too??

@Dell79: beautiful! I think a modern dress would be totally fine for that venue but I’m all for contrasts. My Fiance is from LI and we’ll have our second ceremony (he’s Indian) there!
