As some of you may have seen from the images I’ve posted, I keep a tarantula as a pet. She’s bred in captivity, and very docile. I pretty much love her to death.
Now, something I really can’t stand is when someone goes and disses on me for keeping something that walks on 8 legs as a pet. It’s mostly because they have some weird misunderstanding about tarantulas, but some just are genuinely predjudiced against it. I don’t hate on other people’s pets.
To clear the air, here’s a video from my vlog that addresses the topic, and I hope the rest of you can enjoy it and learn something new.

I knew someone who had a pet tarantula a while back. He loved her to pieces. I dislike spiders so would never like one as a pet but that by no means gives me any right to judge you or any other out-of-the-norm pet owner.
I can’t watch the video, but good for you! Stand up for your non-traditional pet!

@LiliKitty: I’m glad at least you get it. Tarantulas have personalities just like every other pet and I wish more people could see that.

@Spinder: I respect your decision to have a tarantula as a pet. A dog isn’t a pet for everyone and same goes for tarantulas. As long as the pets are safe and happy, who cares! I can’t watch the video either because I’m so squeamish when it comes to spiders. =)

@Spinder: My younger cousin had a tarantula as a pet for about 14 years! She and my uncle found it in their back yard when she was really young and they kept it. They’re not for everyone, but to each their own 🙂
