Has anyone used Target for bridesmaids dresses? My girls all live far away and will have to travel to my shower, wedding, etc. because of this, and because of my experiences with expensive bridesmaid dresses I will never wear again, I wanted to chose a cheap dress for my girls.
does anyone have any experience with Target dresses? I am worried about availability in all sizes, and how long they offer the specific colors and styles… My wedding is in October 2013, and I’m wondering if I went with target if the fall colors they have now will still e available in the summer, when traditionally the girls would order them, or if I need to use someone else or have them order now.
the dresses are about $50 each, and for that price I am willing to pick one of the limited colors and styles! I have far too many $200 + bridesmaid dresses hanging in my closet never to be worn again, and don’t want to so that to my girls!

This may or may not help, BUT, I did order a Target Bridesmaid or Best Man dress for myself to wear to a wedding as a guest. I was surprised at how ‘flimsy’ it felt when I received it. It also looked a little cheap (not that I am saying they all do, etc). It was a chiffon dress, and I ended up returning it 🙁
I guess the good news is that IF you went this route, and ended up not liking it, it is super easy to go to your local store and return it!

@OUgal0004: thanks! That is very helpful! I don’t want cheap and flimsy looking dresses! But your right, I could easily return them.

I am also getting married October 2013! 🙂 I am planning on probably going with Dillard’s dresses rather than the stuffy, never-wear-again, traditional bridesmaids dresses. The way I see it, even if it costs as much as a traditional bridesmaid dress, it will probably look better, be easier for the girl to get something that fits her without alterations, and maybe she can wear it again. And it can look fantastic with some nice heels and jewelery!
I don’t know if I would pick something out and order it right now though. You’re still a year out, and you may change your mind or your bridesmaids may not fit into the same dress a year from now. I think if you have a color in mind that you want your bridesmaids to wear, you can generally find any color any time of the year. You don’t have to stick solely to Target. Keep your color and budget in mind and do some searching around the internet closer to your wedding date.

I ordered the one below for my bridesmaid. It was a cute dress – but definitely not made for a figured woman. She was spilling out of the strapless side if you know what I mean. I decided not to try any other styles… but for $50 – its worth a shot!
EDIT: Target happily accepted my return at the store and I received full credit.
