    i worked at Wal-Mart once upon a time, and I will not shop there. I also worked at Target and I much preferred working there. We shop at Target and I buy groceries at Schnucks.

    @Sea_Ashley:  I love Target but Walmart at 9am on a Sunday morning is amaze-balls!  It’s practically empty until around 11am so I can enjoy shopping and get way more than I can anywhere else for way less money.  The key is that a large percentage of people do everything but shop on Sunday morning: they sleep in, go to church, nurse a hangover, etc….

    @Sea_Ashley:  In Québec city, Targets are quite crappy. There were huge expectations when they bought the Zellers chain (I liked Zellers). They finally opened the new stores in 2013. Everybody was eager to see what Target was like, but there was disappointment. Racks were empty, and prices do not really compete with Wal-Mart (which is 2 minutes away). I don’t know anyone in my entourage who shops at Target. My parents go to the US a few times a year and they have been to a few Targets there, but they thought it was a crappy chain as well.  I thought they simply saw bad stores and I told them I had read good reviews online, and that the website looked promising, etc. Turns out the Canadian website, as usual, doesn’t allow us to shop online (it’s just … empty, like the stores). There’s really nothing that incites me to become a customer.

    I don’t ”love” Wal-Mart but whenever I can find a good deal there, I make sure to stop. And I like that they match their competitors’s prices.

    @mchitt329:  Yep … I don’t get it. Maybe I haven’t seen the cool Target stores.

    @Sea_Ashley:  the last time I went to a walmart was about 3 years ago and I barely got out alive. Sat in my car dissolved in tears I was so frustrated and angry And SKEEVED out! the only way I’ll ever go back to a walmart is if I have a gun to my head. And even then I’d take a moment to weigh out my options…

    @lalalyanne:  I’m jealous, our Superstore doesn’t have a gas station.

    @sostobe:  be jealous! Haha kidding.

    You get 3.5 cents a litre back with a normal purchase and 7 cents a litre with a PC Card! More free money. Can’t complain!

    while the stuff at target is not the best quality, at least the designs are cute and the store is usually clean and nice. even the newest / cleanest wal-mart I’ve ever been to seemed totally janky and depressing. the clothing and housewares they sell are the lowest quality, and all seem really oudated or just….bleh. I only go there if I can’t find a certain shampoo or something that is out of stock everywhere else.

    I hate Walmart and everything they stand for. I wouldn’t go into one unless there was literally no other choice. I don’t even know where the nearest one is. I’d rather pay a bit more and buy from Costco or Target, though I do most of my grocery shopping at Trader Joes, which is all sorts of awesome.

    In Canada, I’ve found that Target isn’t nearly as good as in the US. Their selection is poor and prices are not competitive. It’s like, they have no idea why Zellers closed all their shops and if they don’t clue in soon, they’re doomed to the same fate. Superstore is the best for me!

    I avoid Walmart at all costs. I refuse to support a company that depresses local economies, deepens the cycle of poverty, necessitates ridiculous amounts of welfare and other public assistance to make up for their terrible pay while still having plenty of money to line the pockets of the owners, bullies producers and suppliers into selling their goods wholesale for far less than a fair price, and somehow convinces the people who suffer the most that they should be happy to have Walmart around the corner.

    I haven’t been to a Wal-mart in years. There’s one that’s closer than the Target, but I still won’t go. I’m always scared for my life when I go into that store. I don’t know why but everyone looks like a serial killer!

    I love Target.  Walmart gives me heart palpitations whenever I have to go there.

    @MrsUPS:  Target is decidedly the lesser of those two evils.

    If someone from another country walked in and saw the people at Walmart, I wonder what they would think….?

    target.com is my favorite. I avoid all lines, get free shipping and there’s much more selection.
