target does not keep stuff in stock so I would register for more stuff as your date approaches

I didn’t register with Target but a lot of stores swap out stock during the year, so keep an eye on your registry and you might have to keep adding things.

I just checked our registry, and noticed a couple items that we definitely registered for in-store but says they’re online only.  I’d assume it’s just an item that maybe isn’t available in all stores, but is available at your location.  Not sure though – hopefully a whole bunch of our registered items don’t suddenly go out of stock!  I’m definitely going to check my registry at the store a couple months before the wedding just to make sure we don’t run into that problem.

ETA: The items on our registry that did it were a tent (maybe seasonal?) and a teakettle (definitely not seasonal) so I’d assume it’s just a matter of whether it’s carried in all stores.

Not every store has the same inventory, so if it was an item that isn’t carried at all stores it usually shows up as online only.  But it will still be available at some stores too.  For instance, we registered for some placemats in our city, but when we were updating the registry in his parents’ city they didn’t have those placemats (they weren’t seasonal or anything).  I don’t think this is the case for most items though, things should be fairly consistent overall.
