I am having my wedding at Brock House and have heard such mixed reviews about the food. Well, we went for our tasting there last night and I thought the food was terrible. For the price of what they charge, the food is just not up to par. As well, their presentation is very dated. Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do? I will definitely speak with them, but I am just so disappointed as I was really hoping that the food was going to be great.
Thank you ladies!

Hmmm . Tough. I don’t like Brock House either. I guess all you can do is talk to the events coordinator and tell them what your concerns are. Maybe she will have some options. Maybe a standing heavy hor d’oeuvres reception would yield yummier food (tho, if you have booked Brock House i am assuming your parents want a more traditional event)

No clue about this venue, but I had a similar experience with mine. Obviously it’s too late to change your venue. I would say to let your contact know what the problem is. Be polite, but extremely firm and vocal. Don’t mince words. Hopefully different menu items will be better. Definitely insist on tasting those items. From my experience if your tasting is bad, your reception is going to be worse. Can you tell I was REALLY disappointed with my food?

When you meet with them be specific about what it was that you didn’t like.
“the salmon was bland” the chicken was dry” etc
Be prepared to listen to their explanations but in the end it is their responsibility to please your palate.
Insist that you need some changes and want the revised recipes to be presented for another tasting.
For the $ you are spending you deserve to get food you like.

Thanks for the responses. I have emailed them and will see what they say. I am just so disappoined. If I had known the food was so terrible, I would have sought out a different venue. Ugh. I chose it based on some comments from friends who had attended other weddings there. They said that the food was quite good.

We had another tasting and it was great! They were really receptive and nice about making any necessary changes.
