Help me, can you think of any questions I should ask the venue wedding cooridinator and/or the caterer? We’re having our tasting tonight at the venue, and I assume it’ll be the last time we go there & meet with them until the big day. I’m able to call/email them at any time.. I just wanted to ask as many questions as possible tonight in person.
What are some things I should be sure to ask them tonight, things I may have over looked in the first visit. Thanks everyone!

Just off the top of my head:
– Will there be tip jars on the bar? (Are you okay with that?)
– How many bartenders?
– How many servers?
– If you’re doing a buffet, where will the plates be when guests arrive?
– How you want napkins set
– What time will the room be fully set by?
– Will they handle cutting and serving the cake at no additional charge?

Ask if they have discounts on meals for vendors (we fed our DJ, coordinator, photographers, and videographers… I think that’s pretty standard), if they have kid’s meals, if they can box up some food and cake for you to eat after the wedding (trust me…most brides don’t end up eating anything, and you will be starving afterwards!!), what they’ll do with all of the leftover cake (you might need someone from your family to plan on making room in their fridge to store it afterwards), and if you don’t like something from the tasting – just ask if they can do something different! I saw a photo from another wedding where the bride and groom had a mashed potato bar, and even though it wasn’t on our list of catering options at our venue, we made a special request for a mashed potato bar, and they totally made it happen – and it only cost $2pp which was a surprise to me!
If you haven’t already discussed a rehearsal dinner date and time with your venue coordinator, make sure you discuss that! You don’t want another bride to book her wedding the day/night before your wedding when you were planning on holding your rehearsal. Also ask how early you can arrive to get ready, whether you can leave stuff there overnight (or longer) and come back to pick it up, whether your contract includes tipping the catering staff… I don’t know how many of these details you’ve worked out already, I’m just thinking of questions that came up the last month of our engagement! I’ll try to think of more.
