This is for the inked bees!
did/do any of you have a treid (and proven effective) method of covering your tattoo during the wedding. (one that does not include material of any kind) I have an outline on my back, medium to large sized and I DO NOT want it showing during the wedding!
I have heard of kat von d’s makeup…any reviews?

You can cover them with makeup. Good makeup artists would be able to do this for you, though I am not sure what it would cost – it depends on the size and complexity of the tattoo.
Basically the tattoo colours are neutralised first by covering carefully and accurately with the opposite colour (red over green etc). The colours work together and become shades of brown so the original colour doesn’t show through. Then skin coloured makeup is applied over the top to cover it up. If the colours aren’t neutralised first you will see hints of the tattoo colours through the skin colour makeup.
It can be done with conventional makeup, and there are some concealers designed specially for tattoo cover up. But these tend not to look as realistic when finished and can become cakey as you build up layers of colour, powder and concealer. Also, being a concealer type product it can transfer. It’s best for small tats.
The best and most durable option is actually airbrush. The temptu brand in particular have airbrush colours designed specially for tattoo cover up. Once dry the formula shouldn’t transfer onto clothes so it’s ideal for larger designs and areas that will be against your dress.

I went into Sephora and tried Kat Von D’s makeup and it did cover up my tattoo. I have a small tattoo but it’s really solid black, tribal style. I have no idea how well it would hold up all day or if it rubs off on clothes though 🙂

When I was a bridesmaid earlier this year I tried Kat Von D’s stuff and didn’t like it; I ended up using a lot of concealer from Make Up Forever – it took a long time, but lasted all day.

depending on the size and location you can go with makeup or airbrush. airbrush is best for large areas and areas that will be coming into contact with clothing. if its something like you have a low back dress and a tattoo on your back you want covered then i would suggest airbrush. if its something on like a shoulder or arm and small makeup would work. i have had really good results with k vod D’s makeup but everyone has different opptinons. i would suggest going into sephora and testing it out. the consultants there should also be aboe to help you apply it and give tips that sort of thing. if your oging for airbrush request to see the portfolio of covered tattoos so you et someone you know will do a good job. hope that helps 🙂
