Darling Husband and I are not about putting names on ourselves, just in general.  So he is getting my footprint on him and I am getting a spark on me, he just loves my little feet and my nickname for him is sparky.

I am not a fan of names personally … what does he do for a living? If he was a mechanic for example you could get a tiny wrench on your foot .. I think that is a lot cuter

The only people I know with initials on their feet are actually divorced… Lol. That solidified my wariness of names/initials… But I have a matching tattoo with my Darling Husband, so I’m no better. Maybe a symbol to commemorate the event instead? I am considering our wedding date in roman numerals on my wrist.

I have the initial of my new (married) last name on my ankle. I only got the first letter in the event that something should ever happen so I can add something on to it at that point.

We’re planning on getting matching tatoos but no names or initials. I thought about adding his to mine but decided against it – mainly for aesthetic reasons though.

Go with the initials if you feel comfortable with that. Get a cute font!

ETA: If you’re uncomfortable getting the initials because you fear the tattoo lasting longer than the marriage, I don’t know if you’ll feel better about having an inside joke tattoo.

My two cents on tattoos in general is that they need to be pretty as well as meaningful since more people will see them than understand them. Parting from that, I’m not a huge fan of writing–can’t shake the quintessential “you’re not a newspaper” criticism. I, too, would recommend thinking of an image that means something to you.
