As my wedding approaches closer and I am waiting for finished alterations to my dress I have fond myself getting more and more nervous.
The reason being is my tattoos. In the original style of the dress that I purchased, my tattoos would be slightly covered and not as noticeable due to the jacket/sleeved portion of the dress. Now i fell in love with this dress online and ordered it online, thus never had a proper fitting until it was delivered and i went to alterations.
The sleeves and bodice of the lace jacket were very I’ll fitting (too tight) as compared to the dress which had a modest amount of room in the bust area that I have ended up needing to have taken it.
As a workaround due to lace being very difficult to take out, we came up with a plan to do away with the jacket/sleeves and line the lace around the cups and having the whole dress strapless.
Initially I was very excited, felt beautiful, and loved the freedom of the strapless dress! Now as things move along and the nerves are hitting me I can’t help but wonder if I will look appropriate for my big day.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not a very traditional bride and there are many traditions that we are not going along with, but I know someone along the way is going to have something to say. I personally love my tattoos and am not ashamed of them at all, but kind of feel the need to cover them (mostly due to societal standards).
My question is for those brides who have tattoos.
Did you (or will you) keep your tattoos visible? How did you react to those who seemed disappointed or dissatisfied? If you covered them was there a reason and how did you cover them?
I am posting a picture of what the dress looked like as purchased (not myself in the photo) as well as photos of my tattos. I do not currently have a photo in the dress with my tattoos showing.
