@cuddlz88: so…if you have tattoos, cover them up. don’t come on here dissing everyone who’s going to let them show. it’s one thing to say “i personally don’t like the look, so if i had visible tattoos i’d cover them.” it’s completely different to come on here and say “there’s nothing worse than seeing a bride with visible tattoos.” really? nothing in the wedding world is worse?
and as for it taking away from the dress…last i checked, the bride was supposed to wear the dress and be the focal point, not the other way around.

@cuddlz88: This opinion should have been kept to yourself. This is what the Weddingbee would consider, ‘snarkiness’. Go away please…thank you!

I have three tattoos, one is pretty large, but they’re all on my hips/thigh so it won’t be an issue. SO isn’t fan of me getting any more, but loves the ones I have (though I suspect more in a because-he-has-to-love-them way!) I’m planning on one more when I finish my PhD because it’ll balance things out.

I have a tattoo on my bra line that most likely won’t show in the dress…but when I tried on my gown for the first time I kind of liked the idea of it peeking out if I’m dancing all crazy 🙂

@novemberstorms09: That tattoo on your back is AMAZING!!!
I have 2 tattoos, one on my lower back (that is small and is almost always covered by clothing) and one larger one between my shoulderblades. I wouldn’t ever cover it with makeup, because I don’t want anyone to think that I’m hiding it. I got it while I was married the first time and honestly never considered wearing a wedding dress again LOL.
The tattoo itself is one I had done to honor my first husband, who passed away about a month after I got it, who was dying of cancer at the time. It’s his (our) last name, in russian, surrounding the celtic tree of life. I love it, I show it off every single chance I get because it’s meaning to me is just HUGE…however I do feel a little weird about it showing during my wedding to another man (with another name LOL). If I can find a dress that covers it, so be it. If not, usually my hair covers most of it when it’s down and it’s not as noticeable.
As for tattoos, most of them are very sentimental to the ones wearing them…even if they look silly or ‘generic’ to everyone else, so I understand not covering them up on that day. However, to someone who doesn’t understand the meaning (such as a future in-law you’ve met twice), they may wonder why the heck you would ‘ruin’ a beautiful dress with tattoos. Others will think it’s awesome that you didn’t hide such beautiful art. To each his own. As a general rule, I told my oldest niece (she is 18 and already has 3 tattoos!!) that she can cover herself in ink…but do her grandmothers a favor and don’t get any that a wedding dress can’t cover until after she’s married 😉

I don’t have any tattoos but if I did, they’d be part of who I am and I wouldn’t specifically seek out a dress that covers them.

i got a one shoulder wedding dress to specifically EXPOSE a tattoo (that i got for my hubby) on my collar bone.
I could never imagine covering my tattoos—they are a part of who i am!

I do not have a tattoo… one particular moment I remember (I think i was about 12) we went to a wedding (my moms friends daughter) and she had a HUGE tattoo on her back…. it was a name… She had got the tattoo with her EX.. it was his name… Thankfully her groom had the same name as her EX… this was one moment I remembered while growing up that I never wanted a tattoo where it would be seen on my wedding day. I mean its just my preference… I like the simple elegance look for the wedding day. To each there own though! I think it really depends on the person!
