Ive been doing our taxes through Turbo Tax for the last few years and its always been very easy. However, in 2010 we bought a house and lived and worked in 2 different states. We also aren’t married which makes figuring out who claims property taxes and things like that incredibly confusing.
Several friends suggested H&R Block but I’m really skeptical. Anyone have experience with them?

I have always used HRB and haven’t had issues with them. I think it depends on the quality of the rep that you end up working with at HRB. Some of them are really good and are knowledgeable about the tax laws, tax changes and different situations, however some also are just going through the motions and putting box 1 into box 2 and moving on. If you don’t feel like the person who you worked with is doing the job right, just walk away. Also, you can go in and just let them do the work for you but NOT file it. That way you can get the information that you need and still do it all on your own through TT or the HRB online site. Good luck in whatever you decide.
