I am a Phys Ed teacher for grades Pre-K thru 8th grade. My students are ususally very good during class and listen to directions, However when I attempt to get them to line up at the end of class to head back to class, I have a few stragglers who refuse to line up or start pushing, ect. This is Mainly for my Pre-K and K students.
I have tried using stickers at the end of class for those who followed directions, the only problem with it tends to be it takes a long time, or the stickers rip, or fall off and than they want new ones. I have also tried transition songs such as “are you talking? are you talking? is it you? is it you? time to be quiet, time to be quiet, shh, shh! Sometimes it works, sometimes its doesn’t. I’ve also tried possitive reionforcement by saing “oh, I really like how so and so has line up, they are nice and quiet and keeping their hands to themselves, however than they all continue to ask me if they are doing a good job, which again makes it noisey.
So I guess I’m just looking for new transition ideas, becuase the techniques that I’ve been trying seem to have gotten “old” to them, and no longer seem to be working.
