Magpie86:  I agree!  I keep a portfolio of all my teacher evaluations, and so far they are really good.  I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed that this works out 🙂

What was your biggest challenge in being a pregnant teacher?

As a teacher, my biggest challenge has been coming to terms with the fact that I won’t be finishing the year. Some people may think I’m crazy but I looooooove my job and will find it hard knowing that another teacher will be sitting at my desk / changing my classroom displays around / teaching my students. I am crazy I know lol.

How did your students react when you told them you were pregnant?

I teach at an area school that starts at preschool and goes up to senior school. I only teach the secondary and senior students but it was like even the students I don’t have in my classes were excited for me. Students are always congratulating me and asking questions. It’s cute!

Anyone due in the next couple of months?

I am due in June. I am only working Term 1 this year because I don’t want to step out on my seniors mid Term 2. I’m excited to do the handover to my replacement teacher but I’m so sad that I won’t be there for my seniors when they finish. I only have 7 weeks of work before I go on maternity leave. I don’t know what to expect!!

My biggest challenge is the stairs hahah. I work in a 3 story building with no elevator,  and have to go up and down a whole bunch each day. It’s been ok up until this week, where it has nearly killed me, but baby is making his presence known lol

my students freaked out about me having a baby! They are so thrilled! I teach 5th -8th,  but the 3rd and 4th graders are always asking me questions,  and just overall loving the fact I’m pregnant.

I’m due in 2.5 months. I don’t wanna leave the kids, but I’ve got to. I’m staying with them until the friday before I’m due (I’m due on a Wednesday).

It’s actually pretty funny how the kids found out. One of my coworkers, who knew I was pregnant, and had thought I had already told them, mentioned it to one of my classes, and they news spread like wildfire.  All I had to do was confirm the rumors. I’m due April 29th,  so I will end up missing about 6 weeks of school. I’m pretty much just missing the end of year parties haha

Expected Due Date: September 9, 2015

Position in School: Special Education Preschool Teacher

Years Teaching: 7 years

After telling your SO, who did you tell first, when, and how: My parents were next. We actually found out on xmas eve so naturally we wanted to tell my parents who were visiting us!

When did you/do you think you’ll be telling your principal/supervisor: I told my principal way earlier than I wanted to, because I was feeling sick.  I mentioned to her that I was not ready to “share with everyone” and a week later I found out the secretaries in the front office all knew.  :-/ Can’t people keep secrets anymore??!

And for fun, what is your favorite part about fall: The weather and getting to wear scarves and boots!

What was your biggest challenge in being a pregnant teacher?

No challenge really—I teach special education and I have 3 fantastic aides in my classroom.  They assist me when I feel unwell to do a lesson.  If I had to pick something, it would probably be that my district does not take our $ out of our paychecks for state disability. Therefore—I cannot apply for paid state disability during my leave 🙁

How did your students react when you told them you were pregnant?

They are preschool aged students and not sure if they completely understand but I did tell them, “I have a baby boy in my tummy!” They seemed excited!

Anyone due in the next couple of months??

Due September—I feel like it’s a long way from now! Can’t wait to have my baby boy in my arms!
