I was starting to do the teaching thing, but ended up walking away from the idea.  And I’m SO glad I did because around here there’s so may lay-offs and those poor teachers are having trouble finding new jobs!

What is PACT? I have a feeling I should know this! I got my California preliminary credential in August 2008, had a job, BUT I was one of those laid off teachers! It totally BLOWS! LoL But I don’t remember the acronym PACT.  I am starting to think moving to a different state might be good too!!

My daughter went through this last year…I think it was the first year it was a requirement.  It almost made her quit the credential program.  Waaaaayyyyy too much work on top of everything else.  Good luck.  You can do it!!  One day at a time!

That does sound intense but as teacher becomes more competitive they need to make sure the teachers are good teachers!

Best wishes

Yes, msashleymarie, she passed!!  She lives 1.5 hours away and the night before this whole dumb thing had to be turned in I went to her house to do an all nighter to help her organize her copies, etc.–seems like there were a ton of pages of lesson plans I kept in order as the copier spit them out.  While I was doing that, she was having a difficult time uploading the video she had of her lesson… and it had to be in by a certain time. She had a horrible coordinating teacher in a rough 5th grade class during this time too.  One thing good came of this..her and her future fiance bought a video camera to film her lesson.  He brought the camera up to Lake Tahoe and was able to be sneaky and film his marriage proposal, so that was neat for me to see!  She doesn’t have her own classroom, but has been able to stay busy subbing this past year.
