We’re not TTC yet, but we’ve decided we do NOT want to know!  It’s one of the few surprises you have left in life!

I could never not find out, it would drive me nuts.

Big items (like furniture) I plan on getting in gender neutral colors, but I want to be able to decorate the nursery based on gender, and buy clothes, and cloth diapers, and EVERYTHING BUT furniture based on gender. The second I CAN find out, I want to!

We found out, I am just too curious to be able to wait. All our purchases are still gender neutral because we plan on having more than one and want to be able to reuse everything. People know that this is what we want, so while I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting some blue, it shouldn’t be so bad…

I also don’t want to know!  I think there are few surprises in life and I agree with the reasons you posted above.  That said, my Future Sister-In-Law is pregnant with a girl and still decorated with all green so she can re-use it.  I’m sure her shower will be all pink though!

Also, I think it will give me some sort of incentive.  Like, wow this labour thing really sucks, but if I push just one more time, I can find out what it is!!

    p.s. I’m not pregnant yet 😀

I’ve had my two children but they are at an age where I’m feeling nostaglic for babyhood (it goes so fast!)  We didn’t want to find out the first time but I dreamt it was a boy (my dreams are very vivid and prophetic). And then, I had pre-eclampsia and had to have an ultrasound very late in my pregnancy and I looked over at the screen and there it was.  No doubt.  My intuition was right:)

But the second time I wanted to know because if I was going to have a girl, then I wanted to be prepared with clothes and such.  But it was another boy.  Saved a lot of money there:)

@LoveliestLove: I also loathe the colour pink, so as cute as it looks on baby girls, I would be putting her in any other colour! lol

We will definitely be finding out. I’m the most impatient, curious, type A, planner type person ever so there’s no way I could possibly make it all 9 months without knowing. I asked Darling Husband about it a few months ago and he was like “Why wouldn’t we find out?” like it wasn’t even an option in his head. It’ll also be the first grandchild on both of our sides and our moms are also very impatient, curious, type A, planner type people so we just have to know lol.

I am also impatient and a type A planner but we are not finding out! It’s going to drive me nuts! But, Darling Husband really wants the surprise and I am trying to see a lot of perks to not finding out. For example I agree about not getting all blue or pink clothes; I want to force myself to buy gender neutral items and decorate a gender neutral nursery then when baby is bigger decorate a different bedroom specific to his or her own interests/personality; I want that “It’s a….!” moment; I like the excitement and anticipation and ability to announce it on baby’s birthday; and finally because I have known someone who was told the wrong gender and that really sucked for her!

I really, really wanted to be surprised the first time but I just knew it was a boy early on.  Even so, I had curtains and bedding made with a Laura Ashley fabric that was blue and red clowns, with tiny pink cheeks (very babyish and cute-not circus scary!).  Just in case.  I can’t stand green or yellow so if it was a girl, I would have just picked up the pink accents and run with it.

I think I’m with you. I’d want to know myself for planning purposes, maybe late in the pregnancy, but I wouldn’t tell anyone else.

There’s a lot more variety in clothes now though, so showers aren’t always blue or pink, especially if you let a few key people know that’s not what you want.

I don’t like pink or blue very much so I think I’d nix both colors no matter the sex and fly with yellow, green, purple, red, gray, orange, brown, and anything else I could find.

I’m Team Green and sad my surprise will be over in 3wks or less. (I’m 37wks!) I quite like irritating ppl by saying we are waiting. Seems to send them in a “How can you not prepare?” frenzy!LOL I prepared pretty well by the looks of it. 🙂

You will bond with your baby! I am SO bonded with my baby, it’s crazy. I talk to him/her all the time about what’s going o n out here and what’s going on in there, especially when he/she STRECHES and it hurts!

I also love our gender neutral nursery. We didn’t paint and it’s decorated with removalable decals- exactly what I wanted for when I redecorate it in about 2 or 3 yrs.LOL I like to decorate.

I also like not getting a bunch of pink or blue clothes for my shower and getting more things we needed. Yes, we could afford it all (before some ppl just on that bandwagon) but it’s good when you get it as a gift, especially instead of clothes your baby will outgrow in a month!
