We have a DJ who is bringing his own turn tables/music, etc. but we need to rent the speakers and the rest of the equipment. The rental company is charging us $350 for the speakers, and then they want to charge $450 for a technician to come and set them up, break them down, and basically sit there in case anything goes wrong. Our DJ can set up the system and break it down, but he said he won’t know how to fix it if something goes wrong.
For those of you who are renting equipment, are you getting a technician as well? Is this necessary? I’m thinking it’s an additional expense we just don’t need – I don’t want to pay a guy $450 to sit for a few hours – and as long as we have a back up, like an iPod loaded with songs and a good sound dock, or a good CD player, just in case, we’ll be okay.
