hey girl! What DPO are you?

1. I felt fine! I anything, it lessened the sting of AF.

2. it hasn’t worked yet, this is my 2nd cycle, I’m 4DPO. This cycle was much more effective for me in the proliferative phase at least. Follicles matured much earlier!

3. The first cycle I had no symptoms when taking it but my irritability was FIERCE immediate after, maybe CD10-14. I also had irritability this cycle but much less intense.

4. I took it CD5-9 the first cycle but 4-8 this cycle.

5. I was ovulating on my own previously, just kind of later.. CD17/18 usually.

6. I’m seeing an RE because we’re same sex and using donor sperm. My RE would have preferred to wait until the 4th cycle but we pushed to start it on cycle 3.

7. It did this month! I triggered on CD13 with two follicles around 20mm and O’d on CD15, the earliest since I’ve been tracking (about 6mos)

good luck!! Really hoping for you.

JLFinch:  it definitely helped my follicles mature faster! Will you have a trigger shot as well? Excuse all the typos in my last comment, I was in my car rushing before a meeting!

1. How did it make you feel?  It varied each cycle.  Sometimes I was more emotional than normal.

2. Did it work for you and how many cycles did it take? I’m getting ready to start my 5th cycle on it.  We had a 3 month break between the 3rd/4th cycle.

3. Did you have side effects?  I took mine at night to lessen the side effects I felt.  I mostly had some night sweats from it, and a little emotional in the days after taking the last pill.  It also gives me hormonal acne around my chin.

4. What CDs did you take it? I’ve done days 3-7, & 4-8 one cycle just because I couldn’t get the RX called in until day 4.

5. Did you ovulated on your own before taking it? Yes, I ovulate naturally around CD17 every cycle. I have 28 day cycles with about a 10-11 LP

6. Why was it prescribed to you? To give us more follicles to increase our chances.  I also have a monitoring ultrasound and we do a trigger shot to force me to ovulate earlier than I normally would.  My Dr. thinks I naturally ovulate “over-mature” eggs.

7. Did it shorten your cycles? In the cycles that I did Clomid by itself it did not shorten my cycles, BUT I also don’t have long cycles, so I can’t really speak for that.  Taking the trigger shot earlier than I would normally ovulate did shorten my cycle by 2 days, but my LP was increased to about 13 days.

JLFinch:

1. How did it make you feel? I felt ok actually, it wasn’t bad at all.

2. Did it work for you and how many cycles did it take? Nope, I did three cycles, 1 with timed intercourse and 2 with IUI.

3. Did you have side effects? I was very thirsty the first month on it and I had some mild headaches. I also had some night sweats.

4. What CDs did you take it? The first cycle I took 50mg CD3-7 and then I had to take a booster dose of 100mg CD12-14, the next two cycles I took 100mg CD4-8.

5. Did you ovulated on your own before taking it? Yes I did, although typically late on CD18-19

6. Why was it prescribed to you? It was the next step since we had been TTC for a while already and my LP was short at only 9-10 days. The RE said it would help me ovulate “better” to lengthen my LP and it would also give us more targets. I was also getting a hCG trigger shot each time so that helped too.

7. Did it shorten your cycles? No, but I ovulated on CD18-19 previously and only had a 9-10 day LP. The second & third rounds of Clomid just moved my O day up a bit to CD16 and gave me 12 day LP, so still 28 days overall.

1. How did it make you feel?

Bloated and lethargic, but also really horny. I did not get moody until after I stopped taking it.

2. Did it work for you and how many cycles did it take?

Currently in my first cycle.

3. Did you have side effects?

Insomnia and hot flashes. I took it at night. Also very thirsty.

4. What CDs did you take it?

4-8

5. Did you ovulated on your own before taking it?

Yes

6. Why was it prescribed to you?

I was amenorrheic for a while due to anorexia, RE thinks that my FSH levels might be too low to trigger “good” ovulation because of that. I think this is also her usual treatment path for unexplained IF.

7. Did it shorten your cycles?

Not sure, but it probably won’t. My cycles are 28 days.

I was on 100mg/day. Good luck – hope it works well for you!

JLFinch:  I’m just in my first round of it.  I took it CD4 to 9.  The only side effects I had were hot flashes and ovulation pains.  I’m still waiting to O at CD14 now but hoping its early and my cycles are shorter.  Yes I ovulate on my own but very late in my cycle which doesn’t produce mature enough eggs.

1. How did it make you feel? My biggest symptoms were hot flashes, dizziness  and headaches (only right after I took it). I took my pills before bed. I was bloated too, especially during my FW.

2. Did it work for you and how many cycles did it take? I did one cycle 50mg CD3-7. Then 2 cycles 100mg CD3-7, then a month off, then another 100mg CD3-7 all under my OBGYN’s care with no monitoring and just timed intercourse. Took 6 months off meds while we started with our RE. This cycle I did 50mg CD4-8 (was supposed to be 3-7 but insurance took an extra day to approve our cycle). This cycle (#5 on Clomid) worked with Clomid + trigger shot + IUI. Don’t know what worked, because this cycle there was a lot different than all the past cycles.

3. Did you have side effects? Above. I’m lucky in that I didn’t have the usual emotionalness or irritability (at least, not that I noticed).

4. What CDs did you take it? Oops. Answered above. For me CD3-7 didn’t work. CD4-8 did, but that was kind of on accident because of late insurance approval (and we did tons of things different this time around).

5. Did you ovulated on your own before taking it? Yes, just really late (between CD22-35).

6. Why was it prescribed to you? First 4 cycles- to shorten my cycles and try to get my body to ovulate earlier. Cycle 5- to induce ovulation and give us more target follies for our IUI.

7. Did it shorten your cycles? Yes and no. It brought my ovulation date wayyyy up, so in that sense it shortened my cycles. But it also lengthened my LP from 13 days to 16/17 days, so be prepared for that! I was so confused when in cycle #2 or 3 on Clomid I was at 15DPO with no BFP and no sign of AF. She finally came at 18DPO.
