Friends! I am going to be visiting Denver in August to look at the University of Denver for my MSW program. I’m from Maryland, and while I have family in Colorado Springs I have never gotten to visit Denver. So tell me about your city! I’ll be there for a week or two, so give me ideas of things to do 🙂 We love hiking, so if you have any recommendations for hiking spots those are more than welcome as well.

We only went for a couple of days to visit friends and it was winter so we didn’t hike, but you have to try Denver Biscuit Co…omg!!

Born and raised in Denver! I love the city and summer is a great time to visit. In terms of hiking, there is a ton that is close. Red rocks has great trails along with flat irons/Boulder area for ones that are super close. Golden Gate state park is another one that is close (and you can hit Coors Brewery tour on your way back!) Denver is definitely a beer town so there are a lot of great breweries to check out EVERYWHERE. If you want a decent night life scene check out LoDo (right near Coors Field where the Rockies play). If you want more of a hipster science, check out the Highlands. Near DU is Broadway where there are a lot of great art galleries (and dispensaries) Yes, marijuana is legal here but it isn’t like EVERYONE is smoking it on every corner. If you want to get out of town for a bit, there are some ski resort towns (Breckenridge, Vail) that are only a few hours outside the city. Denver is awesome and I hope this helps!!

One thing I’ll say about Denver, you always know which way is west. Ha!
