slomotion :  Not just bedroom. Any door within the bedroom must be closed (closet, bathroom, etc). All the lights must be off and it has to be quiet too.

No, I’ve seen Dawn of the Dead (2004). No zombie neighbor children for me thank you.

    futuremrsmcl :  Same!!!

ETA: except for the quiet, I have to have my fan blowing on my face or I won’t be able to sleep.

I heard from our fire chief that its exponentially safer to sleep with your door closed… so thats good enough for me! Plus hubs and I sleep naked and dont need our kids walking in on that

I prefer the door closed but the dogs end up scratching or barking to get in or get out and it’s just easier to leave it ajar unless we desire privacy.

I have a cat and a dog.  Door has to be open or I would never sleep.

Neither. I don’t have doors as I have an open loft style bedroom 🙂

sharpshooter :  same. We have 3 cats who all have varied schedules for when they want to be sleeping on the bed and when they want to be sprinting around the house in the middle of the night like maniacs. Easier if the door is just open.

If my bedroom door is open, and if there is no blanket over my feet, a ghost monster WILL attack. It’s been proven time and time again, although my husband refuses to accept the evidence.

Even when I am the only one in the house I sleep with the door closed!  Not even scared of intruders or fire, it’s the “this is the one time I am going to be visited by a monster and the door is totally going to protect me” feeling. lol. If others are home I sleep with it closed because I don’t wear pajamas.

Our dogs sleep in kennels which sounds like a life saver for my sleep when I am reading other people’s struggles with dogs going in and out!

We sleep with the door ajar.  I slept with my bedroom door wide open when I was single…never occurred to me to close it.  Lol

I have two cats who apparently must be in the same room as at least one of their humans at all times, so the door stays open. Reading other peoples’ responses gives me something to think about though. We sleep in the nude, so leaving the door open may not work once we have kids. We might have to install a pet door for our bedroom.
