slomotion :  not totally irrational! I’d rather a fully open door than one just cracked though. If someone’s going to be creeping I want to see them. It also bothered me a lot more when I was single – now with a husband and I dog between my side of the bed and the entrance I feel more secure lol

I would love SO BADLY to have closed doors at night, but similar to other bees, my cats scratch the door and meow until we open it, so we have to sleep with it open.

Before pets, all doors were closed to prevent my imminent rape/murder.

After pets, rape/murder is preferred to incessant scratching and yowling.

Hereforthecake :  Yesss to not being able to breathe now that you mention it. It just feels stuffy. I guess it’s our homemade cheaper CPAP machine lol

slomotion :  oh no, I’m with you. I swear at night I see demons everywhere lol. As a kid, I had really bad sleep paralysis so I constantly thought a demon was attacking me.

I slept with my door closed all my life up until my daughter got too big for her bassinet and we had to move her to her own room across the hall.

I now sleep backwards on my bed, with my feet by the headboard so I can look out the door and see my baby. Her door is open too. My closet scares the bejesus out of me at night. I’m sure that’s where they’re gonna come from to get me. I never think about monsters at noon…

slomotion :  First of all when I read this I processed it as “Tell me about your bedroom decor” and was prepared to say two dressers and a bed?…what else should there be.

Anyway, door open becasue cat. It is however WAY safer to sleep with it closed in event of a fire, so kids’ rooms will always be closed.

naturalbee18 :  When I was a kid, my parents wouldn’t let me have a fan at night, so I got the bright idea to use a blow dryer on the cool setting… Running all night… What could go wrong?

Been sleeping with a fan ever since. 😏

We sleep with the door open because the only demon in the house is my cat.

I am, however, TERRIFIED of my bathroom mirrors at night. Always have to turn on the light to go to the bathroom. The monsters are in the mirror, apparently.

slomotion :   My families old pupper has multiple beds around the house including one in my room so I have to keep it open in case she decides to mozy on in lol. She’d probably get confused if I didn’t at this point and I can’t sleep thinking about that.

Yes, door open.  Cats and Dog need to be able to come in and out, though the dog is usually out cold once she goes to sleep.

Wide open. We have a dog that likes to get a midnight snack (sometimes she carries a mouthful of food INTO the bedroom and chomps away) and a cat whose yowl could wake the dead. I also usually wake up once a night to pee, so it makes it easier. I also feel claustrophobic if doors are closed in general…like the air isn’t circulating enough. Very scientific, I know.

The idea of someone standing slightly outside my door and peering in from the dark hall terrifies me.

I also used to duck and run past our kitchen window after it got dark when we didn’t have blinds on it 🤷‍♀️😂
