As PP have said, insertion wsa painful. Also, my first IUD perforated my uterus and I had to have surgery to remove that one. But the second one has been fine and, even with the surgery, I’d still take it over the pill any day!
When i first got it, I checked my strings about once a month (when I would do my home breast exam). I have gotten lazy ove the past few years and have not checked the string in over a year. But I had a GYN appt in sept and everything is still in place!

My husband can’t feel it and it can’t be bumped out of place. After a few days, the strings soften and just curl up out of the way so you don’t have to worry about them.
I am lazy and have stopped checking mine after a year and a half as well!
