We were thinking about getting a small 2 tiered cake and having a seperate cake on the side.   The small 2 tiered cake is for show and when guests arrive, we wheel the cake out the second cake is cut from the pan.   It saves a lot of money.

We just had our tasting last weekend. By far my favorite part of wedding planning!

We are having a 3 tiered alternating chocolate and vanilla cake with canoli filling and chocolate buttercream icing.

It will be an exact replica of this except ours will be 3 tiers instead of 4 and will have buttercream instead of fondant…

ETA: Incase it wasn’t obvious, we’re having a fall themed wedding. =)

Ours is 3 tiers and each tiers is a different flavor. Our bottom is a chocolate almost layer and a white almost layer of cake with amoretto cream icing. Our second layer is white chocolate cake with lemon curd icing and our top layer is chocolate cake with kaluha (sp?) cream icing. It is going to look just like this cake but adding just a few gum paste cherry blossoms to the black scroll work. And it will be oval and about the size of the styrofoam cake in the last picture (With Mr. Shef doing what he does best, being a complete nerd)

I did my cake tasting today!  We’re having a 4 tier cake with 3 flavors: strawberry, lemon and vanilla.  Once Fiance emails me the pictures, I’ll upload the way it will look.

We still haven’t finalized what the cake will look like, but we were very quick to decide the flavor! The offical description is “two layers each of dark chocolate and white cake laced with natural peanut butter, dark chocolate ganache and a layer of buttercream, then smothered in buttercream as well”.

Our cake was four layers.  The top and bottom tier were chocolate cake with mocha filling, one tier was chocolate cake with raspberry cream filling, and one tier was chocolate cake with cherry filling (like cherry pie filling). It has buttercream frosting.  This cake wasn’t quite enough to feed all our guests so we ordered a sheet cake also but didn’t display it.  The sheet cake was a rum cake with buttercream frosting (a family favorite).  We also had a dessert table which made up for the fact that our big cake was all chocolate.  Everything was delicious!  Our cake topper was DH’s parents’ from their wedding so that’s why it looks a little worn.  Good luck with your tasting and have fun!

I’ll be honest, I never really tasted a wedding cake I liked. We wanted a backyard BBQ feel to our wedding…the kind were everyone felt like they were at home. So for our cake we are doing 3 tiers of rice krispy treats and for an extra dessert we are having chocolate chip cookies with shot glasses of milk… whats more homey then rice krispies and milk and cookies.

I got the idea online somewhere and thought it was totally us!

I originally wanted this cake:

I’m not too crazy about how fondant tastes, but have always thought that it looks better than buttercream…until I saw THIS!

I loved this as soon as I saw it in the bakery.  Our cake will be the same but with an “F” on top!  We are going simple with alternating layers of white and chocolate.  We will have a sheet cake also since this cake only feeds 185 and we anticipate 200-250!

Neither my husband nor I particularly like cake, but we joke that anything pumpkin is one of his love languages ๐Ÿ™‚ so we had a pumpkin wedding cake with fondant frosting. A friend of ours made it and printed edible sunflower photos on it. We had three sheet cakes besides our wedding cake and she put a unique sunflower photo on every single piece. It was so incredible!

To be honest, though, I didn’t eat any of it :-P. But it looked amazing!

This is a picture of my daughter’s cake. It will be buttercream icing with fondant ribbons. Top layer marble cake w/ chocolate buttercream filling. Middle layer: chocolate cake w/ raspberry filling. Top layer: vanilla cake w/ dulce de leche filling.

Here is a picture:

Cappucino cake (bottom layer of each tier is soaked in espresso! It is SO moist and SO delicious.

We changed the buttercream frosting to marzipan, so it’ll be super smooth and it’ll taste like and almond cappucino. YUM!

This is my favorite bakery for regular desserts (Victoria Pastry in San Francisco) so I was super excited to find out they do wedding cakes. It is going to taste so good! Now we only have to pick a design and colors so it will look good, too.
