I had uplighting…but I’ve never heard of a spotlight on the cake. I would think it would melt the icing/fondant.

Personally I wouldn’t spend the money. The cake is such a small detail, spend the money on upgrading the bar or extra appetizers or something that your guests will notice!

nawella:  I had a spotligth on my cake. But our spotlights were in the ceiling. I dont know how it would look on a stand. Here is what it looked like. I loved it! We spent too much on the cake for people to not notice it, so I wanted a spotlight on both my cake and husbands.

My daughter had pin lights (hung in clusters, on the walls), for the cake and centerpieces. There were amber uplights on the walls. The band provided their own lighting. Their cake stand was an ornate, silver one, that the hotel provided, like the photo above.

nawella:  Thank you! And it did not melt my cake at all. The spotlight was on it a good three hours before it was even eaten too.

nawella:  I think halogen? Maybe? Not LED for sure though.
