Oh my god I want some cake now!!!!

Ours was about $375 for a 12″ round cake (carrot cake) as well as 300 cupcakes (6 different flavors).  Oh my god it was so good, and it ALL got eaten that night!  The wedding was in Wyoming, where the cost of living is obviously a little different than NYC ; )

mrsdevries:  her cake cutter set looks exactly like mine, which I got on Ebay for like $25.  It’s “Silver Treasures by Godinger” brand…

I’m doing a tower of donuts from a popular donut shop here in Philly called Federal Donuts. Their towers look like this one in the photo. But after looking at all these beautiful cakes I’m jealous! They are gorgeous!

edepp2010:  OMG you’re lucky to have those talent! I’ve been told that a decent wedding cake STARTS at $6 per slice/person, so for my MODEST 100 people wedding I’m looking at $600 minimum. Sigh..like everything else it looks like I’m going over budget for cake too 🙁

KittensBee:  I’m cheap:) I don’t charge my clients much because I dont need to make much. I  bake from home and have low overhead. This is just a side job, I am a personal chef full-time. My best suggestion is to check the website Thumbtack. You post what you are looking for and people bid on you. Just be very specific in your post, because vendors have to pay a few dollars per bid. If they bid on you, you should know that they are serious.

edepp2010:  ohhhhhhh that’s really good to know! I actually just found out about Thumbtack a couple of days ago when I was googling local DJ’s…didn’t know they have to pay to bid. I got a bit overwhelmed by the number of bids I received I decided to just put it on hold. But now I will take my time going through each bid and start calling them. Thanks for your advice 🙂 I wish you were servicing the pacific northwest LOL

KittensBee:  Also, check Craigslist! I advertise on there a lot since I don’t have a website.
