MrsBuesleBee:  I really didn’t care about the cake we had, I just wanted the cheapest option I could find because I couldn’t rationalize spending that much money on eggs, flour and sugar.

I got my 3 tiered cake from Publix, and it ended up tasting amazing! Buttercream icing, red velvet– vanilla– and chocolate flavored tiers. I just gave them an extra burlap jar as a topper and asked the florist to do some magic with some flowers and I thought it turned out nicely.  I think we paid somewhere in the $300 range total to feel around 150 people and there was a TON left over. This cake turned out being huge.

MrsBuesleBee:  I posted mine once before. It was almost 2k (I think somewhere in the high 1800s). It is 6 tiers separated by sugar flowers, some of them with brooches in them. The picture is from a similar cake, but we are adding more detail to each tier. When it is on the table at the venue, it’ll be 7 feet high. We are feeding 495 people so hence the massive size. I’d tell you the favors but I forgot lol. One has a chocolate crunch filling (my favorite), the other is chocolate on chocolate and the last one has a pistachio filling.

I’d do two or three tier cake. And then do sheet cakes in the back. No one will know and it’s a lot less expensive!

MrsBuesleBee:  If it makes you feel any better I was  engaged in 2010 and married yesterday so 4 year long engagement (3 of the years I was away at school and than had to move back and find a job) It was nice because I did have the  time to plan and sort the details! The cake was a little different but still turned out great and tasted amazing. I’m sure whatever you choose it will be awesome!

Our wedding isn’t for a few months, but this is what our cake will look like. It is three tiers and will cost approximately $350.
