@peasantsong:  OMG I love my car!! I’ve been driving it for 5 years and it hasn’t had anything go wrong yet even with over 130,000 miles on it already. The battery actually just died about 3 months ago. The hatch…ah, I’ve moved with that car 3 times and it hasn’t failed me yet. The only negative I’ve discovered is that it “eats” tires. I’m on my 3rd set. It just wont stay in alignment and I always have nails in the tires. I just love it, though. Top of its class in safety every year! 🙂

@FoxyBride14:  Mmm…I haven’t noticed that it takes that long to heat up, but I’m also in Alabama, so if you’re in NY, it probably gets colder than it does here!  I drove a 2012 Altima as a rental after my car accident in February, and when I couldn’t get essentially the same car I had (a ’07 Corolla Sport) for a decent price, I bought an Altima.

Loan rates can vary even if you have a great credit score (how old the car is, what banks are offering at the moment….). For example, my husband has near perfect credit score and was looking at trucks at about $10K, all of these vehicles were used and on the older side. We were offered horrible rates and ended up just saving and paying for  one in cash. I am sure you already know that though.

Mine is the exact same as yours almost but for a 07 Dodge Caliber SRT4.

@peasantsong:  I think you did the right thing.  If you had credit card debt with higher interest rates then I would’ve used the money to pay that off first.

No trade, $5k down. I have the cash to pay for the whole car, but I wasn’t confortable using almost all my cash on the car. I’d rather get the loan and keep a good amount of cash in my account for emergencies.
