I just booked our flights this morning and I am super excited. I thought I’d do a honeymoon poll! I’ll start:
We are going to Oahu for 10 days, staying half the time at Trump Waikiki suites and the other half at the Kahala Resort. It’s gonna be around $8k for the whole thing (I’m estimating for meals/extras), which is about double the cost of our ‘regular’ vacations. But that’s fine because it’s our honeymoon! We are flying first class because I just can’t do coach for 4+ hours. But that was super cheap because I booked the flights on points and only paid about $300 in taxes. It’s the hotels that add up… but they are beautiful.

@Pinkmoon: We are having a Destination Wedding in FL so we are going to be there for a week, but our actual honeymoon will be a week long cruise leaving from Miami. The cruise was 2,500 and i’m estimating around 1,500 for our other expenses, not including the amount it costs to be in FL for the whole week.

we went to maui. DH’s parents paid for our hotel as their gift to us (totally awesome of them!!) so we splurged and flew 1st class. we flew alaska airlines out of california and it was the same price as coach on united- WTF. sooo worth it to go 1st class!! our total including airfare was about $3500 which means i voted wrong in the poll. :-/

Oh what cruise line? What ports are you stopping at?
Ugh I hate United with a passion. My return flight is unfortunately with them as they’re partners with Air Canada. 🙁

It’s ridiculously expensive getting anywhere from NZ. We paid nearly $5k for return economy flights to Singapore then connected onto Thailand and Malaysia. That included our internal flights cost too. We spent another $4K on accommodation, tours and transfers. Then I estimate another $1.5k on spending money and food. We were away for 3 weeks.
It was 150% worth it, best holiday I’ve ever had, memories to last a lifetime and we are both so glad we did it!
Edit to add: I’m quoting in NZD.

Flying economy to Barcelona, spending 2 days there then going on a 12 night Mediterranean cruise. It’s going to cost about $6500-$7000 for both of us once all is said and done (though I voted $7K-10K just in case we do go over… 🙂 ).

Carnival, I wish we had went with Royal Caribbean now, but we put the money down in Dec, before all their problems lol we are going to San Juan, Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, Grand Turk.

We flew first class to Tokyo (15 hour flight) for 5 nights, business class to Hong Kong for 4 nights, then first class home. 5* accommodations all the way. Flights and most hotels on points/miles. Spent about $7k for the rest of the hotels, dining, shopping and activities. Very expensive cities so it’s a good thing flights were free! Had an incredible time!!

How timely! SO and I just finished planning our honeymoon itinerary and deciding on our budget this past weekend.
We are big into adventure travel and go on lots of trips so we wanted to really splash out on our honeymoon. We picked Iceland and Greenland. Our itinerary includes 2.5 weeks in Iceland, including a 10 day Ring Road self-drive plus about a week in Reykjavik as a base for adventure activities. We have lots of activities planned, including ice climbing, glacier snowmobiling, caving in lava tubes, a volcano tour (inside the volcano!), fissure snorkeling, horse riding, hiking volcanoes, sea kayaking, plus many more day excursions like whale watching and Blue Lagoon). Our itinerary also includes about 8 days in Greenland. We are going to see Viking ruins plus spend some time in each of Nuuk and Illulissat as a base for activities like whale watching, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and helicopter tours, plus a midnight cruise of the Illulissat Icefjord (a UNESCO World Heritage site).
In total, we have estimated that the trip will cost us at least $20,000, and probably closer to $22,000 when all is said and done. We plan to fly economy but are definitely going to splurge everywhere else. It may seem like a lot but it is absolutely our dream honeymoon and our wedding budget is only $8,000 so we will end up spending around the average cost for a wedding if you add in our honeymoon. 😀

ooh my parents did Iceland in the fall and loved it. Until they went and a coworker of mine also went last year, it had never even occurred to me as a destination. Now I wouldn’t mind going. I hated Europe when I went but they said Iceland was better!

We went to Paris for a week last September. We stayed in Bercy, which is in the 12th arrondissement (district) of the city. It’s outside the main area of tourist attractions so it saved us money, but was still only a 10 minute ride to most of the major sites.
We spent about $2600 on our flights and hotel. Flew economy class there and got bumped to first class on the way back. We probably spent about another $1000 in food, souvenirs, excursions, etc.
Best trip ever!

Oh that sounds fabulous! We’ve only been to Hawaii one time, but we LOVED it. We got bumped up to first class and it was amazing!
We’re going to Italy and Turkey, specifically Florence and Istanbul, for two weeks. For airfare and hotels it came to $5500. Airfare was $1900 total and then $3600 for the two hotels. I haven’t factored in spending money though, which I usually average to be around $150 per day so in the end it’ll probably be around $7500ish total.

@Pinkmoon: We paid ~$1500 each on our plane tickets to Rome. I estimate $1500 for food and entertainment (we are staying 6 days). And then our hotel–not too pricey but can’t recall the total.
