I really want to have my FI’s ring engraved but I need some inspiration, and I think hearing other people’s stories helps. I’ve seen a couple really cute ideas randomly on the Bee but I want more! So, if you feel like sharing, tell me what your ring or your FI’s says and what it means to you….thanks!

I’m thinking of doing our initials (A+A) or “This much” because I always ask him how much he loves me, and then he asks me the same thing in return. OR the geocoordinates of the church we’re getting married at, because we like to go geocaching 🙂

Oh my gosh, I love those ideas! The “this much” thing is adorable – my sister did something very similar. And I love the geocoordinates of the church…so cute since it relates to something you guys like to do together. Great ideas!

I am planning on proposing (or proposing back if he makes the move first) with a ring engraved with simple <3 🙂 It just about sums up my feelings when I think about him 😉 We also use it when texting to each other and on notes we leave at home when we need to remind the other of something…
On wedding bands, usually it is the name of the spouse and the date of the wedding, but I was thinking maybe a series of dates – when we met, proposal, wedding and later we could have added children’s birthday or vows renewal date if we ever did it… But we both have really small fingers so it probably wouldn’t fit all in…
But there’s this great trend I really like – engraving your fingerprint on your spouse’s ring! I would love that and I hope I will find someone here who will be able to do it.
Another alternative I was considering is rather geeky/an inside joke: 9x-7i > 3(3x-7u) – if you solve this, it reads I <3 U!
I wish my boyfriend liked The Princess Bride as much as I like it – than I could engrave our rings with the phrase “As You wish.” which is how the main hero says I love you to the girl.
I would love to read some other ideas – keep them coming! 🙂

@Vlcatko: So many great ideas!!! I love the “As you wish” idea…too bad your Fiance isn’t as into the movie as you are, because that’s very cute. I’ve seen the equation before, which is also cute, as long as he gets it, too, which it sounds like he does.
I read about one bee (can’t remember who) who engraved the coordinates of where they were the first time they said “I love you,” which is so sweet. My friend engraved their wedding song “You are the Best Thing.”

My FI is a huge dave mathews fan ( I am too but not nearly as much as him). Just a few months before he asked me to marry him, had to go out of town for a long weekend and he felt bad about leaving me cause we are so busy we hardly get time together. Long story short, flowers delivered, card told me to go somewhere to get something and so on, until my last clue lead me to a pair of diamond earrings (hidden in the house) and a piece of paper with lyrics from “steady as we go” by dave mathews. THUS i am now a bigger fan of DMB.
But i am having “steady as we go” engraved on his ring. the song has special meaning but i think that phrase says alot about a marriage too.
also check out this website a friend got her idea for her FI’s ring

My husband’s is engraved with “Always & Forever”. We love that song (we’re corny, we like the old farty stuff!) and I had it done on the sneak one day when he left his ring at home by accident when he was running late to work. I told him I took it to be cleaned and he was so surprised and touched when he got it back with the engraving!

When we first got together, he was working nights in a clb and I was a little insecure so I used to write “Property of SpecialSundae” on his back in eyeliner before he went out.
So inside his wedding ring he’ll have “Property of [SpecialSundae’s real name]” and in mine I’ll have “Proud owner of Puppy”. Puppy is what I call him all the time and he barks back.

@hardtoconcentrate: One thing to keep in mind is to make sure your bands are thick enough to allow for the engraving.
@Vlcatko: I love the finger print idea, but unfortunately we can’t with my FI’s job.

I am having my FI’s wedding band engraved with this: “Where you invest your love, you invest your life 3.10.2012” It’s a line from a Mumford and Sons song which is the band we bonded over in the beginning!

My fiance and I are both huge Michael Jackson fans. We actually met at one of the many fan gatherings that happened just after he died in 2009. Our matching wedding rings are both engraved with: “L.O.V.E” which comes from a Michael Jackson quote 🙂

I took my SO’s ring and got it engraved in secret before the wedding as a surprise.
I chose a font that looked kind of retro, and the engraving was pretty simple:
name + name 8/20/2011
I used first names only, and a + sign in between. I love it for its simplicity.

These are beautiful suggestions! Both my parents have the date engraved inside theirs and, although the gold has worn down after 45 years of marriage, you can still see “JUNE 25, 1966”.

I might surprise my fiance by getting his ring engraved. We have been together for over 5 years and 4 of them were long distance so many of our conversations during the day would be through text. We would say “I love you” so often that we just abbreviated it to “ily”. Simple and sweet, reminds me of the 4 years we were apart, how we’ve grown, and what we’ve gone through to get to now!

I am thinking of “The best is yet to come”, from my favorite Frank Sinatra song! Which will probably be our first dance song too if we get any rhythm before the wedding lol!
