Chose one or the other so they are not in competition.

Most weddings I’ve been to had music during the cocktail hour (like an ipod of some sort of canned music or live musicians like a pianist or string quartet) then either a DJ or band after dinner but not both.

We have both as it came with our package.

The band does 45 minute sets with 15 minute breaks in between…which is when the DJ would come on.  We have the band until midnight and the DJ will take over for the rest of the night.

Well… obviously they can’t play at the same time, so you’d have to work out when each one was playing. Why not have one for cocktail hour and the other for the main reception?
