I did something silly.
I had some time to kill and i was near a dress shop that was having a sample sale. I thought why not go browse…
I ended up in a couple dresses. I liked the first. I *loved* the second. I keep thinking about it…
I have already ordered a dress through Lace Marry on Etsy. I havent tried it on so i dont have any pictures of me in it or anything to help talk me down. I keep worrying i wont like the dress or it wont fit or it just wont work when it actually arrives.
Please tell me these dresses are really similar and I need to just sit tight… or if you think i need to bite the bullet and buy the other dress, tell me that.
Here is the dress i tried on. Its a size too small so it pulled at the hips (and was enormous in the bust) but it was so flattering and (i thought) gave me a nice hourglass shape.
Heres the Lace Marry dress i ordered. I asked for the skirt to be altered to what i thought would be a more forgiving trumpet shape which i am now kicking myself for.

mikesgirl123 : I mean, the lace marry dress has sleeves but if I were you I would sit tight. They’re both lace and similar shapes. Lace marry has a good reputation and you haven’t even seen what it looks like on. On top of that you’ve already paid for it! Unless this dress is a ridiculous screaming deal I would just wait until you get your dress in 🙂

It’s hard to judge without seeing the second dress on you but I’d pass on the first one, honestly. Your body type reminds me of my cousin’s and her signature look is a bateau neckline like on the dress you ordered. I think you’ll like it better, and if you don’t, I’m sure taking in a trumpet skirt to make it into a mermaid won’t be a difficult alteration.

+1 for the previous comment. Just wait until you get your dress to assess things. I’m in the same boat as you, as I’m having a dress made as well. I was at a bhldn shop the other day feeling all types of regret. But I decided to take the same advice I’m giving you: muster up all the positive energy and patience you can, and wait it out. Plus, the dress you tried on isn’t anything spectacular. You can find a similar dress very easily later on if you need to.

I much prefer the neckline and sleeves on the one you’ve ordered.

No point buying a smaple from a sample sale unless it actually fits. I say sit tight and wait for Lace Marry magic to happen. Make sure you post your Lace Marry dress for all of to admire.

I actually think the Lace Marry one is nicer. It’s gorgeous!

if you told me the second dress was just the first with a lake topper, I’d be like “yeah no duh”.

The one you ordered is much prettier than the one without sleeves.

Thanks for talking me down Bees 😊
Crisis averted, I’m commited to waiting for my dress. I pulled out the fabric samples from Lace Marry which helped.
is_a_belle : Your comment reminded me why I bought the dress i did in first place. I wanted an off the shoulder neckline because it is the most flattering neckline on me (it balances out my wide hips and small chest) It’s my go-to neckline.
observer : Yes, you are right about the size. I really lost my mind and was thinking i would order a size 14 (thats a 12 in the picture). And get extra length so i could wear heels with it. So the sample sale discount wouldn’t apply, it would have been full price and then some. I would have paid $1600 for a brand new dress + $200 for the extra length 😮
So, back to impatiently waiting…

Ohhhhh I love the one you ordered! It’s different and has a little bit of a retro-y vibe. Please post when you get the etsy one!!

If you’ve recently ordered and they haven’t begun work on it yet, you could always ask them to change the skirt shape back 🙂 maybe that’ll make you feel better.

I really love the one you ordered! I think it is much more interesting and unique than the one you tried on, sit tight 🙂
I also ordered my dress from Etsy and drove myself crazy waiting. When it arrived it was the most beautiful dress I have ever tried on, and I couldn’t be happier with it! Four months to the wedding now and no dress regret.
