Hard to concentrate by red hot chili peppers. My favourite band and I love the lyrics

Ours was Better Together by Jack Johnson. Runner up was Can’t Help Falling In Love (I really liked the Ingrid Michaelson version)
Diamonds and Pearls by Prince
There wasn’t any dancing at my small in-home wedding, but we had that song playing as the ceremony ended and everyone congratulated us. I chose it for that moment, and think of it as my wedding song.
Ours was “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.
We didn’t really have a song that we considered “our song” but we danced to this at a jazz club on one of our early dates. I’ve always loved this song and when my husband suggested it, I first said no because I was afaid I was going to be very emotional and ugly cry. I also thought it would be too intimate a moment and I didn’t want to share that with everyone.
He convinced me it would be fine, and plus, the whole song wouldn’t be played anyway. We had a band that was phenomenal and the lead female singer was awesome! We also did more of a waltz so we were moving around a lot and I didn’t get the chance to get too emotional. I have great memories of that dance and I’m glad my husband talked me into it. He says it was one of the highlights of our reception.
Man… I have to think about this now. I though I persuaded Fiance that we didn’t need dancing, but we’ve changed our mind and are getting a DJ, so I suppose we need a dance. Like other bees, we don’t really have a ‘song’. Hmmm, maybe that song from the princess bride. We watched it a month or so ago and I remember thinking the song was beautiful.
We danced to Al Green’s “Let’s stay together”. It was short, sweet, upbeat, and fun. All of the things we we’re going for.
Elvis – Can’t Help Falling In Love is my down the isle song but in strings.
First Dance is: Bob Marley – Is this Love
Ours was “fast” by Luke Bryan… it was symbolic because we were at a Luke Bryan concert when we first said “I love you” to each other (I know, sooooo much cheesiness I could make a stuffed crust pizza) and cause part of the song is about how people doubted their relationship would last, and ours was similar in a way because we got engaged pretty quickly (dated less than a year) and our mutual friends were shocked we were together because of how completely opposite we are.
Ours was to “Baby I’m Yours” by Barbara Lewis. There is this little-known made-for-tv 80s Halloween movie called “The Midnight Hour”, that has the song in it, that I made him watch on our first date (and every Halloween since). It became our song after that. My husband was very nervous to dance and have everyone watching us at our wedding, so we actually went outside to a private area overlooking Lake Michigan and danced to it, with no one else around. It was perfect.
We decided on Frank Sinatra – I’ve got the world on a string, but it is yet to happen. π
The acoustic version of Everlong by Dave Grohl. My DH learned the song while we were engaged just as a song to play on the guitar, but when he sang it to me the first time and then I listened to the original acoustic version I fell in love.
We were leaning towards “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green. It’s a very romantic song, and I sang it to Mr. Joseph when we first started dating! However, I learned that Al Green was physically abusive to his wife, and that made the lyrics seem fake and totally changed how I felt about the song.
After more research, we chose “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King. It’s a very “classic” kind of song, we really like the lyrics, and Ben King wrote the song for his girlfriend who he later married and stayed with for his entire life (51 years!).
We we’re watching The Greatest Showman on Saturday and Fi leaned over during “A Million Dreams” to say that would be a great first song. He’s so right.
Yes, I loved the movie and totally bought the soundtrack after we got home. It’s a really sweet song, so it’s definitely going on the list of possibles. The movie was good motivation actually so were getting together our list of fav songs to submit to the DJ.
