My hair/make up lady dropped me 24 days before the wedding. My plan for flowers also fell apart yesterday. I am getting married on Saturday lol.

MaybeEventually :  I’m 4 days away and in the last week I’ve discovered that FI’s family members have invited other guests from out of state who are planning on traveling for the wedding. I’m not just talking one or two. Uhhhh what? Then they have the nerve to get mad at us?

Also just found out some of FI’s family is switching out some people. “Well since Susie is signed up for the reception but isn’t going to be staying, I figure John can come and just take her seat.” This “John” was never invited and I’m not sure I’ve ever met him.

Also: outdoor wedding and potential precipitation. So fun.

I had cancer surgery 6 weeks before… made for a total shitshow of last minute craziness.

My wedding was yesterday and the biggest hiccup was that my videographer went to the city where we live instead of our hometown where the wedding was! They’re 3.5 hours apart! Luckily he still made it two hours before the ceremony started. He called for directions because he was lost, which happens all the time for my parents’ house, and after about 2 minutes of confusion we realised where he was! He drove right through our hometown on his way.

I didn’t have any disasters, but I will say the last few weeks were tougher than the (incredibly smooth) year of planning.

3 weeks out, I had to lose 5 lbs to fit in my dress (nailed it. lost 7. gained it back after obviously but whatever)

2 weeks out my aunt and mother added my nephews as ring bearers in my wedding.

1 week out my Mother-In-Law added a guest to our wedding (so I re-did the seating chart, went out to buy supplies to make another place card which is sold in packs of 25 but I was all out and it turns out so was papersource so I had to scour the city to find a papersource that had what I needed in stock)

1 week out I had a scare after losing 7 lbs that my dress was too big at the bust, but luckily the seamstress showed me that I had just put it on too high up.

that’s it I think.. there may have been some other things but I don’t recall right now.

MaybeEventually :  can you get a cake that will freeze well from a local bakery, and simply take it out to thaw the day of or whatever? it doesn’t need to be big.. you can have a big sheet cake from Costco or the supermarket in the kitchen for them to pre cut, it actually makes service a lot easier because then people get cake the moment you finish cutting the ceremonial piece

Well I just got married on Friday and I can honestly say that alot of things that went wrong seemed like bigger deals then they were.

-my work was a nightmare leading up to the wedding… It just added lots of extra stress.

-my alterations bill was ridiculous. We did not budget for how much extra it was going to cost, so that added some stress trying to figure out where that money was going go come from….

-the photographer didn’t talk to us until two days before the wedding…. I was freaking out. But it all turned out well.

-The flower girls were with us when we got hair and makeup done and they kept running around and messing up their hair…. That was annoying. Because of the extra times they had to do the flower girls hair they were late, so that made them late with my hair and I was worried that we wouldn’t finish on time because we were on a tight schedule. But it was fine, rushed, but fine.

– the one flower girl had a stinkface the entire time she walked down the aisle… Lol

-we were very short on time at our ceremony space for getting pictures, so getting the bridal party to pay attention was frustrating. DHs brother decided it was okay to be smoking in some of the pictures, right next to my pregnant bridesmaid. I lost my shit on that one, but my other Brother-In-Law was able to talk sense into him and he apologized and I apologized to him later in the day too….

-the photo booth that I paid extra hours for was late… No one else knew but they are going to get an angry call on Monday!

It seems like a lot but they were honestly all pretty minor issues that were easily resolved before or after the wedding.

One week out

– Photographer got in a car accident and had to send a replacement

– Wedding band was finally finished after the jeweler was hospitalized (I had to return my first one due to poor craftsmanship so I was behind)

Two days out

– Executive chef at venue quit and walked out

– Extra people with little kids said they were coming from out of town and we were out of tables and chairs so they ate dinner at high boys.

Day Of

– Officiant didn’t show up. He claimed he thought it was at 6 when it was really 4:30. Luckily a coworker is an experienced officiant and I had the vows on my iPad.

Other than that the day of was beautiful and went off very well. Rain threatened the whole ceremony, but held off until just as we finished pictures so we got some cute umbrella pictures out of it. Food was still good and I’m friends with my florist so the flowers and extra touches she added were beyond gorgeous. I also liked the replacement photographer a lot. Oh yeah, we also gave her an asthma attack running out of the rain, and she was pregnant, eek! I don’t fault the photographer or jeweler at all for getting injured and sick but it was a stressful start to the wedding week.

MaybeEventually :  I got a manicure the day before my wedding, I had natural nails and just wanted a blush pink/cream colour. They put like 4 or 5 coats on and it took forever to dry and still wasn’t properly dry when I got home. It took no time for me to muck up one nail, then another then another. I ended up taking it off and painting my own nails at about 10 at night.

This one is totally silly, but it was my one Bridezilla moment, and my husband still teases me for it:

Day before the wedding, the place cards were printed and “ready to go”.  Note – don’t leave printing until the last minute.  We had guests over, and I was busy, so I sent Darling Husband to go proof them and pick them up. He comes home with the cards, says they’re fine. I opened the box and flipped out!  They were supposed to be in a nice, normal font, normal size (I can’t remember which font, but it was a standard one, nothing fancy). Instead, they were in this crazy western style font, like on the old school “wanted” posters, not centered, and multiple different sizes!  I lost it. Loudly. Fortunately, his best man was there, grabbed the cards and Darling Husband, and ran back to the printer to get it fixed. They weren’t exactly what I wanted in the end, but no one noticed, everyone was seated in their proper spots, and things went fine.

It’ll work out, and you’ll be married at the end of it all!
