Excited To Bee:  I think your best bet is just rest. You can do other things that may help, but you just need to let your immune system do its thing. I was just sick last week (ugh) and missed two days of work. I drank lots of hot tea and water and smoothies (full of vitamin C) and slept/rested a lot. Also zinc lozenges, as supposedly they are the only clinically-proven thing to shorten the duration of a cold…I think Emergency and Airbourne are just placebos, although the extra viatmins and such won’t hurt. Hot steamy showers and baths with essential oils helped relieve my congestion and body aches a little btit.

Excited To Bee:  Not sure it will work now, but seriously, Zicam is a life saver. I NEVER believe in stuff like that but I swear it works. At the first sign of a cold, start taking zicam and drink some emergen-c too. Ever since I started, I havent gotten a cold really badly! Usually I’m a watery eyed, sniffly mess. It’s amazing.

Excited To Bee:  It maybe too late now, but I when I start to feel a bit weird I take local honey. I take three teaspoons a day.  Some people say its stupid and it doesnt do anything, but I think it does.

Honey and ginger also seem to work. Or honey and cinnamon in hot water.

Take your vitamins and chop up a clove of garlic and take them like pills. (So you don’t taste it) they’re antibacterial and antiviral. Ginger baths are good too, esp if you have swollen lymph nodes. Just take some ginger, grate it with a cheese grater into a washcloth, and rubber band it so it makes a little pouch. Boil it until you can smell it, and take a nice warm bath, using the pouch (once it’s cooled a little) as a washcloth to massage your sore lymph nodes. It feels so nice!
