I’m using “Walk With You” by Edwin McCain!

“I’ll take this slow sweet walk with you… You’ll let go of my hand to say: I do… He will discover just how blessed a life can be… I know cuz all those years ago, someone handed you to me

Every step that we take brings back the memories… Winter snows and horse shows, dancing on the beach… I can’t help thinking that I’m the lucky one… You’re still my baby daughter… And now I’ve gained a son

I’ll take this slow sweet walk with you… You’ll let go of my hand to say : I do

He will discover just how blessed a life can be… I know ’cause all those years ago your mom handed you to me

Don’t miss a chance to put each other first… Now that you’ve vowed for better or for worse… Don’t let the beauty of this life pass you by… In the times of trouble you’ll stand side by side

I’ll take this slow sweet walk with you… You’ll let go of my hand to say : I do… I picture a slow sweet walk yet to be… When you’ll take my hand and say : Daddy come see… Then you’ll know what it felt like… You won’t believe what it feels like… Then you’ll know what it felt like… When she handed you to me

She handed you to me”

I’d love to hear what everyone is using as well.  I want something more upbeat and can’t handle songs with the cheese factor (i.e. butterfly kisses).  I do enjoy the Paul Simon song “Father and Daughter” but that might be too much for me too.  🙂  Although, if I left it up to my dad, he’d choose Freebird.

If we do one (we’re not having dancing), we’ll use Loudwin Wainwright’s “Daughter”

We used this:

We’re Irish, and it sounds like an Irish blessing…I didn’t cry at all, all day, until this…And I bawled like a friggin baby!  Good thing I had my Daddy to hold me up.

My dad is really proud of his Polish heritage.  We haven’t talked about it, but I might try to talk him into a crazy polka.  It would certainly be different.

I was just making a list of songs to make a CD for my Dad.  We will be using Van Morrison – Into the Mystic because it has special meaning for us.

Some of the songs I have listed for the CD are:

There Goes My Life – K. Chesney

American Girl – Carrie Underwood

Romeo & Juliet – Taylor Swift

My Guy- The Supremes

I Loved Her First-  Heartland

Sorry for the obsessive amount of Country.  They always have the best situational songs!

My dad chose My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. He loves sappy country songs, there was no way around it lol
