Western Belgium! Antwerp, Bruges, and Ghent are three of my all time favorite places to go.

In the Netherlands I can recommend Utrecht (I’ve never been too impressed with Amsterdam, probably because it’s too touristy).

Germany I love Koln, Osnabruck, and Aachen for the north west and the Munich/Garmish area for the Bavarian part.

If you go to Hungary, check out Lake Balaton; it’s a pristine vacation spot that my FI’s family (they used to live in Hungary) swears is the most beautiful place they’ve ever been.

Dubrovnik in Croatia is beautiful. The Old City is really historic and neat to walk around. If you go as far east as Turkey, I loved loved loved it there when we stopped on a cruise.

You’ve probably already planned your trip, but just wanted to say I love some of the suggestions on here, like Slovenia, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria etc. and they are all on my visit to visit!

i definitely recommend Croatia – stay in old town part of Dubrovnik, rent a car, I also went to Makarska there, a beach resort town. Mostar in Bosnia is a good day trip. Montenegro is stunning but some of the beautiful towns in the mountains take awhile to drive too. Eat fresh fish, visit monuments and old churches, live the ‘village’ life.

Istanbul is a must — interesting time there right now with protests….

Tblisi, Georgia is fascinating and the food, cheese breads and wine are amazing. Go horseback riding in the mountains among the local chapels. Beautiful city – I have been to almost 45 countries and this always tops my list.

i also loved Iceland – so much to do, easy to have an interesting and active vacation, very tourist friendly. Go during Airwaves festival in fall or summer to see glaciers, puffins, waterfalls, volcano fields, the blue lagoon, and maybe even get to see the northern lights!

Been to Ukraine and Russia (Moscow, rostov on don, Sochi, and near Chechnya!) for over a month. it can be expensive and I found you would need to spend some time planning to fully enjoy. wouldn’t say it was on my “favorite” destination list but definitely an experience.

have an amazing trip!!!
