My Fiance faked a work phone call on the day he went to pick up my ring. I decided to go shopping since he wasn’t around. When I returned home he told me I had gotten some magazines in the mail. He was behind me while I stood at the counter and went through them, I came across a bridal magazine and noticed it didn’t have my name or any postage on it. When he wasn’t answering my questions it clicked in my head what was happening. I turned around and he was down on one knee. My hands went to my mouth and I started sobbing. He said he had a speech planned but ditched it when he saw my reaction. The best part of the story though was after he picked up the ring he called his mom to tell her and was pulled over by a cop for being on his phone. He explained the situation and the cop wished him luck and let him go.

I thought I would definitely cry, because I cry watching videos of strangers’ proposals, but I didn’t even tear up! I knew the proposal was coming, and I could tell Joe was nervous right before he proposed, but I still felt very shocked! Probably because there was so much build up about the proposal, I couldn’t believe it was finally happening. I just stood there, let Joe say his speech, and said a very loud yes! I had to ask Joe afterward what he had said because I was so shocked, I didn’t really take in what he was saying.

“You’ve seriously had that in your pocket all damn day!?” We were out with friends all day, just bopping around bars and whatnot… he waited until 3 AM on our walk home to propose! Had to wait until the next day to call my family…but luckily some of our friends were still up!

We were on vacation and I told him the morning of our last day that I thought he was going to propose the night before. He actually was going to but the timing was never perfect. It was our anniversary, on top of being in his favorite city. We took a walk and sat down overlooking the water. He reached out to give me a pair of headphones to which I thought he was trying to show me a clip. Then I heard his voice and the lyrics that was specific to our story. Never once did I think it was a proposal until the very last line. He’s so busy I was just so caught off guard he had time to make this happen when I’m always with him or him at work. I was crying, bawling and I’m a pretty composed person.
Even on my wedding day, I was whatever about it. I was happy but nothing out of the ordinary and when I saw him, I CRIED. Cried walking down the aisle. Cried dancing with my dad. Cried all, dang day. My wedding video was just me bawling out.

emmalicious : My husband proposed sooner than I expected even though we had talked about our timeline and the kind of ring I wanted. He wasted no time getting my ring made and a month or so after that conversation, asked me if I wanted to go on vacation. Since we weren’t planning on getting married for another 2 years from that date, I wasn’t really expecting a proposal. My girlfriends asked if maybe that was the purpose of the trip, and that put the idea in my head leading up to it, but as soon as we got to the beautiful resort in Montego Bay (Jamaica), the lingering thought totally left my mind! The second night on our trip, he asked me if I wanted to walk the beach and look for sea shells. We had a late dinner and it was dark out, and when we got to the beach, there wasn’t a single sea shell in sight! But he insisted we look and then he pointed to something in the sand and asked, “Hey, what’s that?” When I wasn’t looking, he had bent down and put my ring in the sand. I totally went into shock (hands over mouth, “Omg. OMG!”) as he got down on one knee and proposed. I’d be lying if I said I remember exactly what he said, but he was being super sentimental and even cried, while I couldn’t stop laughing and saying “OMG” because I was in shock and I’m not an emotional cryer. But it ended up being a beautiful moment and he managed to capture it with his GoPro camera.

emmalicious : I thought I knew when and where he was going to propose, and my predictions were correct…UNTIL he decided to ask me in a totally different time/place, ditching his initial plans!
So I was completely stunned. I kept saying “really? Right now?” Then when I realized it was actually happening, I just started crying in this bizarre sobbing type way, lol. I think I was speechless for a while because he started crying and stood up to hug me, and only then did I manage to say “yes, I want to marry you”.
It’s funny because we have known for like 2 years that we wanted to get married, and we knew all summer that we would become officially engaged, yet I was still so shocked.

He was on one knee when I walked in the door, playing “You and Me” by Penny and the Quarters with candles, flowers, and onion rings. The joke is I have to get him onion rings before we get engaged so he had them ready. He asked me, “So, do you wanna get married or something?” because I ask him that sometimes as a joke.
Well, in a daze I grabbed the ring without answering and started to put it on. He got up and told me I need to tell him yes or no. Then he asked me to put an onion ring on his finger to seal the deal.

My Fiance refers to it as my “gollum moment”… (*sigh* sweet love, right?)
I was caught off guard and completely forgot all about letting him finish his spiel and put the ring on my finger… I just… saw the ring and grabbed it and put it on my own finger before he even finished lol
He tells me that my answer, when I finally gave it, was acutally “yeah” not “yes”. I don’t really remember.

He caught me 100% by surprise on vacation (my family and best friends had asked me before we left if I thought it was going to happen, and I truthfully responded “no, I don’t think so!”). We were in NZ and had one day to try get good weather to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We ended up having a spectacular blue sky.
We stopped for lunch at the top, magically finding a spot with no one around, and ate our sandwiches overlooking the turquoise sulfur pools and amazing red rock peaks and valleys. At the end he put two hands behind his back and told me to pick a hand. I did, and he produced half of a Twizzler (he had brought a bag along). I happily ate it (still wasn’t thinking this was anything out of the ordinary!), and then he asked “don’t you want to know what’s in the other hand?” I responded “obviously it’s the other half!” and bent down to pack up my backpack. When I stood up, he had gotten down on one knee and said the most wonderful sentiments. I (think) I was totally guilty of the hand-to-mouth move and answered “yes, a thousand million times yes!”
Needless to say, the remaining 12km of the hike was spent in a blissful daze; he got me so good!

It’s funny you mentioned the shocked hand covering mouth pose… I was very aware of someone taking pictures of the moment and I felt cheesy covering my mouth, so now I have pictures of me awkwardly keeping my hands by my side instead :/
