I want more stories!  Posting in hopes that it will encourage more Bees to add their stories, or at least those who have mutliple stories to post more of them!

I myself really haven’t had any personal experiences that I think are paranormal.  I’ve had a couple strange occurances, though…first one, I was laying in bed, (husband and two of our friends were still downstairs playing computer games), but I am 99% sure that I was awake, and at least 95% sure I wasn’t in that half-awake-half-asleep state where you kinda start to dream and think stuff is happening that isn’t.  I could have SWORN I saw a man at the foot of my bed.  I thought it was my husband coming to bed and said something, and when he didn’t reply, I sat up and looked again and nobody was there.  There is almost NO WAY my husband could have made it down the stairs again without me noticing, (especially since he sounds like a herd of elephants on the stairs!), but to be sure, I called him on the intercom and asked if he’d just been in our room.  He hadn’t.

Twice I have heard my husband calling my name.  Once I was in bed, (again, I am SURE I was not asleep), and it sounded like he was calling me almost urgently.  I heard my name more than once, too.  I heard it, wasn’t sure I had heard it, then heard it again.  Asked “What?” and got no response other than to hear it again.  Got out of bed, opened the bedroom door and said, “What?” again only to realize nobody was around.  I also heard the same thing a week or two later while I was in the bathroom running water to take a bath…that time my husband wasn’t even home from work, yet!

I don’t think that these incidents are ghosties, but they do make me wonder what was going on.

I had two classmates in college who experience paranomal happenings.  One often will hear talking or footsteps upstairs and think her daughter is home, only to go upstairs and find nobody there.  Another, younger classmate has a picture that she HATES but her mom insists on keeping.  She says from the time she was young she has felt like the boy in the picture was watching her and gets a creepy feeling.  On the advice of an Inituitive, she tried asking it what it wanted.  There was a loud thump on the wall right by the painting.  It freaked her out so bad she went running from the room…I’ll have to ask if she’s attempted to communicate with it again.

Ugh the Appalachian trail story on the first page freaked me out to the point of tears!  That’s insane.  I’ve had a couple experiences but they’re pretty lame compared to the stories posted in this thread!

When I was eight years old I got freaked out by something in the middle of the night so I went into my parents room to sleep.  I fell asleep on my Dad’s side of the bed, on the floor, with my blanket and pillow.  They had an old white wicker rocking chair that had belonged to some relative, probably my psychotic paternal Grandmother.  I fell asleep and woke up to see it moving a little bit, and turned my head and saw a woman standing over me in a blue sweater and jeans.  She had curly brown hair like my Mom (it was 1988 or 1989 and my Mom and I had matching perms…LOL) and was just staring at me.  I thought to myself that it wasn’t my Mom because she was in bed sleeping and pulled the covers over my head and went back to sleep.  I don’t know, maybe I dreamed that one but it seemed so real at the time and I was scared for a really long time afterwards.

The following year my best friend’s family renovated their attic.  Shit started happening in that house after those renovations.  She was home alone a lot back then and sometimes I’d go over to keep her company.  I remember hanging out in the basement and hearing stomping footsteps on the first floor but nobody was home, and they didn’t have any pets.  Everyone who set foot in that house felt like they were being watched.  The last “big” event I can recall was in the 7th grade when I rode my bike to her house so we could ride our bikes to school together.  I was in the driveway waiting for her and looked up at her window (the attic was renovated into two bedrooms and her room faced the driveway) and saw a person with a towel wrapped on their head standing there.  I was pissed because I thought she was going to make us late for school.  She and her Mom walked out like two minutes later.  Her hair wasn’t wet and she said she hadn’t been up in her room, she was downstairs eating breakfast.  So I don’t know what that was about, maybe my imagination again?

There were a couple times when things just fell or broke when they shouldn’t have.  She had me and another girl for a sleepover in the 5th grade and we were acting all rowdy and obnoxious like kids will do and the lampshade in her bedroom suddenly shattered into a million pieces and some falling glass sliced the hand of the other girl and caused a deep gash.  My Mom went over to feed the cat while they were out of town one weekend and she said the cat seemed to be following someone around the house (an invisible person, of course!).  Tons of stuff happened there.  I just always felt a presence and so did everyone else.  I was really happy when they moved out.

Ooh I have one more!  I got my dog from a local rescue in 2009 and he had horrible separation anxiety at first.  I received a complaint about him barking while I was gone and worked with him a lot in hopes that the barking would stop.  I was convinced that he’d gotten over the incessant barking when I received a second complaint, and I thought it was absolute bullshit.  I bought a tape recorder and would put it in the bedroom with him when I left.  This was back when I still crated him…anyways, I did this for a couple months and I would always listen to the tapes.  Most of the time I would just fast forward until the tape squeaked and I’d rewind to see what kind of noise he’d made.  Well, one time I rewound and heard Oliver whining a bit and then I heard a semi-whispery voice say “Shhhh” and my dog just instantly shut up.  It kind of reminded me of the librarian at the start of Ghostbusters.

My fiance doesn’t believe in any of this stuff and when I played the tape for him, he was creeped the f&*^ out.

Yes, I believe in ghosts. There are just too many ‘weird’ events that give proof to ‘ghosts, spirits or demons’ whatever you would like to call them. I’ve had several events that have stuck with me.

The biggest thing that happened was when I was younger, I think I was about 17 years old when this happened. I was in the computer / dinning room on the computer minding my own business when I hear a crash. The shelving on the other side of the room (and this is a pretty large room) had fallen. Everything but a single candle stick fell to the floor. The candle though flew clear across the room and hit me hard, as if someone had stood there and threw it at me. But there was no one there. I was by myself.

Not too long after that happened, I began having night terror’s, which I had never had before. The dreams felt so real, that I’d be screaming for someone to let me out, because … when I recall them I was in a dark room, running for my life and something was after me, and would catch me a choke me. My parents had to wake me up. I was trying to break down the door. I had marks on my neck. When we went on vacation to Florida (I lived in NC at the time) I saw strange signs. Like, a skull in the clouds more than once, and we almost got killed because the fog was so thick, my dad din’t see the stop sign and almost got hit by a truck. When we got to our destination I had another night terror, and woke the entire house >.< I felt pretty embarassed. But, the worst thing is… when I went home…not long after that our dogs who are very peaceful got into a bloody fight, and we had to pull them apart, and the very next day I got into a fight with my dad. I mean a fist fight. He was choking me, and I was fighting for my life.

I don’t know if I want to say it was ghosts…or something else. Darker. When we moved out, everything just seemed to get better. I didn’t have the night terrors anymore, and my dad and I never fought again. I learned from a friend though that, that house burnt down and the cause was unknown.

But aside from that horrible experience… I’ve felt things, that would make the hair on my arms stand up. I know, you probably think I’m crazy. But, I just … I believe. I believe in God, and I believe that there is a Devil, so why wouldn’t there be ghosts, demons or spirits out there as well??

last night was a rough night for us because addie was up from like eleven until two am.  When we finally got her back into bed and asleep, ny husband and i were whispering to each other for acouple minutes and then we said goodnight and rolled over to go to sleep.  only a minute later, ny husbanda asled if i had heard a noise. i thought my fil had just turned on the tv downstairs, and my husband thought so, too, so he got out of bed to check, but my fil was still asleep in his room across the hall and the tv was off downstairs.  for a while last night we just llaid there listening to the two voices carrying on a conversation.  every now and then we would whisper to each other to see if we were hearing the same thing.  We probably did this for over haqlf an hour last night before i finally rolled over and went to sleep.  this morning we were going over it all again, and we both agree that we heard a man and a woman talking about randdom, mundane stuff like church, work, a baseball game, and some family gossip.  my husband even quoted back two sentences i remember specifically word for word from the conversation.  it was way weirder than anything we have encountered thus far.

@Mrs. Spring: I love to read the stories about the stuff going on at your place!  Does your daughter seem to sense the spirits?  Do they interact with her at all, (like, when you’ve heard voices and stuff, do they ever seem to be talking to her or anything?)?  I wonder if it’s a case of intelligent haunting (they can see/interact with you and know you are there) or more of a residual haunting (imprinted events replaying themselves without any conscious awareness).  Maybe you guys should go on Ghost Hunters…you could be the first Wedding Bee to be investigated by TAPS.  Smile

@Miss Apricot:  Lol, my husband would love that!  We don’t know if Addie “interacts” with the ghosts or not because she’s so young.  She talks and laughs and plays with herself all the time, so we wouldn’t really know the difference if she was doing it with someone else, you know?  But our dogs don’t seem too freaked out by it.  I think they’ve adjusted or something; at first they would look really weird when we heard footsteps and stuff, but now they just act like it’s part of their normal environment.

I don’t have any stories myself, but my younger sister is said to be an “Indigo Child” and very in tune with the afterlife.  Ya I already sound crazy saying that lol.

Anyway one day she was home alone and she said that someone kept calling the house, whispering and then hanging up.  She could never understand what they were saying.  After the last phone call, the doorbell rang, and it freaked her out, but she didn’t answer it because of course she was instructed not to when she’s home alone.  Well after the doorbell, the lights on the ceiling started shaking.  She called my mom, crying, and huddled on the floor terrified!!! Poor girl.

She also used to see an orb in the same corner of her bedroom a lot just before bed.  She thinks it’s our Nana.  When I moved out, she moved into my bedroom and never saw it again.

When I was little, I remember waking up a in the middle of the night to see three men standing on this sides of my bed looking down at me. Two on one side, one on the other. I remember covering myself with the blankets thinking they would go away. I heard them talking about me. I don’t remember what they were saying, and some of it was hard to make out.

This happened a few times, and when I would tell my mom she would tell me I was just dreaming. I know I was wide awake, and even when I would pull the covers off my face they would still be there. It stopped, but it still was really scary.

Another time, in elementary school, I had some friends stay over. We were sleeping in the living room, and all three of us saw a shadow in the second living room. There was a couple other things (I can’t remember now) that happened. We all got out of bed, put the comforter over our heads and ran down the hall to my room.

Last one… I know most people don’t like oujia boards.. But, My cousin and I were playing one time in her bathroom. I was visiting her (we live in different states). We were going to hang out with our other cousin, but we weren’t sure when. This was on Monday, and there were already plans for the next few days. (I’m telling this for a reason, promise!) Seeing them, wasn’t part of the plan. We asked the board when we would see them again. It told us on wednesday. We thought, ok we won’t because we all have different plans. So we asked who’s house.. his or her’s. Usually they came over to her house. We never really went over there. So we didn’t really believe it.

Literally, still sitting in the bathroom, the phone rang. It was my aunt, seeing if we wanted to come hang out at their house on wednesday. I know it sounds silly, but the way things were.. it was just really weird. There was a little more but of course my memory sucks.

Anyway, we did end up going over there. I haven’t played with a oujia board since.

I have a few…well some ar emine, and some are from my Brother….I will start with the mildest of them…

When I was in 6th grade I lost 2 uncles on the same day. My mom lost a brother (Uncle M) to Cancer , and my Dad lots a brother to heart attack (Uncle C). Anywho…it was a crazy horrible day. My mom was with her family, and my dad with his, and my cousins and I stayed at home waiting. Quiet sad day. Anywho…That night of the day they both had died I dreamt I was at uncles C’s houses. It was so clear and real. I walked into their house as normal, and walked to the hall closet to hang my coat, sad, all the family was standing around and we were together because of Uncle C’s unexpected death. I hang my jacket and turn around and my OTHER uncle, Uncle M is standing there just smiling at me. He looks healthy and normal, no more pain. I look at him and I frown. Like frown as in…this is not real or right. I give a puzzled look because I know he is dead…he nods his head and smiles bigger. I then lift my finger and I poke him in the shoulder. It hits him…I cant NOT explain how clear this was and vivid. After my finger pokes him in the sholder I feel like I am going to BURST with excitement and I jump to him and wrap my arms around him. I hug him and he hugs me so tight…he hugs me…I wake up feeling like I am being squeezed like a bear hug. I woke up becuase I felt it. It was like a final good bye.

Oh goody, I was just going to revive this thread anyway, but you guys beat me to it!

I have a bunch of stories, but I’ll start with the most recent. Last summer my family rented a house in Maine for a week. One of my sisters has what you might call “the shining”–she senses spirits and such more readily than most of us. Anyway, she and her family were assigned to sleep in a room in the first floor of the house. She told me that as soon as she stepped in there, she felt a bad energy, but she didn’t want to say anything that would scare the kids, so she ignored it.

After the first night, she complained of a terrible nightmare. She dreamed that someone was being tortured in the room, and that someone was watching her from the top corner of the room. Still not wanting to make a fuss, she just brushed it off as a bad dream.

The second night came, and she had the same dream. She doesn’t scare easily, but she was starting to feel concerned that whatever was in the room would somehow affect her children, so she decided to talk to it. When no one else was around, she went into the room and asked the spirit to please leave her children alone. As soon as she said that, her book, which was lying on the floor under her bed, slid across the floor and hit her foot. She decided at this point to move the family out of the room and onto a couch in the living room!

Later that day, we were all upstairs when we heard the door to that room slam shut. We went down to check it out, and the door was locked — from the inside. We had to call the owner of the house to get the door open again, which he could only do by taking it off its hinges. Creeped me the crap out.

wow. @katebydesign, your story is gonna be a famous one here on the bee. SO FREAKY. (I had to share it with co-workers!)

I have alway been on the fence about supernatural things and I don’t think our house is haunted but, often when I am getting ready to fall asleep at night, I feel like I can hear a radio or car stereo. It annoys me that someone would have their music that loudly late at night, or I’ll think FI’s boys are up and somehow managed to turn on the radio (which isn’t plugged in and on top of a tall dresser) in their room. However, the moment I sit up, it’s completely silent.

I’m not the only one who hears this either, my Fiance mentions that he “hears a radio” sometimes.

    Story 2-

I am 20 at the time. I am in the Military. I have the late watch and I am on duty guarding a level of the barracks. I am so tired. I was in a high pace training school at the time. Little sleep, lots of getting my a$$ handed to me…so beyond tired and probably seeing stuff yes…so I am tired and strugling to stay awake. I see a guy walking towards me, a straighten up like “oh crap be on guard and dont look so tired” and then blink hard and no one is there. “they” dissapeared. No door or way to duck into…now I am tired as all get out, I know this so I brush it off that its because I am tired….few weeks later again…on duty again…late at night..this time just bored….everyone is asleep. nothing to do but hurry up and wait for my duty to be over. I see something coming down the hall. I squint…still see it…blink a few more times…its moving btw and I am following it with my eyes as it gets closer to me….it passes right in front of me and heads down the other side of the hall. Basically I was at guard at like a “T” in a hallway and it went from one end to the other. I say “it” because I dont know what the heck it was. The best way I can describe it was a “cloud” of blury something at about 5.5 feet high off the ground.

I never said anything about it to anyone. Until later I heard “stories” from other people who had been there years before me and even years after me that “saw” thing when on watch or late at night in their room in those barracks.

I LOVE this thread. I am a skeptic but some things have happened to me and in our house that I just can’t shake.

I’ll preface this by saying my dad is a very calm, gentle, sensible man. When I was 5 I was sleeping in my bed and was awakened by my dad shaking me hard. His fingers were around my shoulders and he was screaming at me. His face looked like him but his mouth was blurry. He said, “they are coming for me and you’ll be here too.” I was terrified and started crying and trying to talk to him and ask him why. He was so calm all the time, why was he doing this, I kept thinking? All the sudden it stopped, he walked out of my room and slammed the door. I vomited out of fear in the trash can in my room and didn’t come out of my room until my mom got me the next day. My dad was sitting at the table, visibly shaken. His eyes were blood shot and he looked terrible. He told my mom that last night he had a dream that he watched a “soul” leave his body. He said he watched it drift up from his body laying in bed, walk down the hallway, come into my room, and shake me violently. He started bawling, like a child and was so upset. My mom was comforting him and I didn’t say anything because I was so scared. When I got dressed after breakfast, there were finger bruises on my shoulders. My dad is my best friend and he would NEVER hurt me. This is a man that refuses to believe in the paranormal and is now a firm believer. I know in my heart it was not him that did it.

When I was about 12, we lived in a large farm house overseas when my dad was stationed in Portugal. It was four stories with a dirt floor basement. I wasn’t allowed to go in the basement because there were lots of things that didn’t belong to us down there. Lots of old things with cobwebs and stuff, farm equipment, etc. One day my parents went to the market and I was alone. I was a brave kid I guess and I went down to the basement. There was no electricity down there so I took the lighter that my dad used for the grill. I just walked around and looked at all the cool old things, and thought it was pretty neat. Then everything like stopped. All noises ceased, the air got thick almost. I can’t describe how it felt. Before I could move, something pushed me hard forwards. I dropped the lighter and it quickly got dark. I panicked and started feeling around for the lighter with no luck. I found the stairs and stumbled up as fast as possible. When I got upstairs, the lighter was sitting in front of the stove on the floor. I never went down there again.

Sorry this was so long. These were two occurences that have greatly affected my life and sleep haha.
