I’m not pregnant, but my brother has 2 little ones now! The first time around, they told us while we were all having dinner at our house. It was a month after our wedding, so we were all thrilled!

The second time around, my grandmother had just passed away unfortunately. We were all in the hospital saying goodbye to her, and our family is quite religious. My mom said something along the lines of “when God takes a life, he gives a life…any of you girls pregnant?” And my sister-in-law started crying. She had just found out a few days before and was going to tell us that weekend, but my grandmother passing happened so quick, and she just couldn’t hold it in. So not the ideal time, but it was very happy news when we were all very sad.

I’m not preggo yet, but I think when I am I would give my parents and his father something cute to open that refers to them being a grandparent, I don’t know what that someting would be, maybe a cute card or something? haha

Told my parents in person during a visit, and my grandmothers on the phone. My husband told his family mainly over the phone.

We didn’t do anything fun/cute- just mentioned it when it seemed like a good time!

I’m not anywhere near being pregnant, but I’ll have to remember that for when I am!

On Halloween, my sister-in-law was skyping with us (we live in Alaska and they live in TX) and she said Noah, their 18 month old, had a new “costume.” They turned the webcam on him and he had on a little shirt that said “BIG BROTHER” on it. My mom and I started screaming 🙂

There was a thread a little while ago that had some really awesome cute ideas. There’s a place around on the websphere that does stork deliveries I guess? As a way of telling family. I thought that was super cute.

I’m torn. I would love to be there and tell them in person. But with my husbands family in the south we probably will only see them once a year now. And my family is 8hours away. So when we are expecting I would want to tell our immediate family right away.

So not seeing their immediate response will suck.

Maybe I can put together some kind of package and have a note that says to FaceTime us before opening the package. Then in the package is something that will reveal the surprise?

That is such a cute way!!!

I told my SIL right away because we are so close. We bought onesies (“what happens at grandma’s stays at grandma’s” and “grandpa’s little helper”) for my in laws to open. They loved it, and Mother-In-Law got it right away, but it took Father-In-Law a min to get it. It was fun. We will probably go with the “big brother” shirt next time around and just see how long it takes for people to catch on.

I’m not expecting but when I am I know exactly how we are going to tell our parents.

WE are going to get these block calendars that you can put how many weeks till you are due. They say at the bottom “Weeks till I’m a Grandparent”  We will put the correct weeks so our parents know exactly when I am due and how far along we are.

Here is an example but the bottom will say “Weeks till I’m a Grandparent” and it will look way more baby. lol

(i cant find one right now.)
