When we became engaged I called both my parents that night and told them. I made sure they were the first to know! My FI’s parents already knew because they were there when he proposed. 🙂

@kay01: we were on vacation when it happened, so halfway through of vaca we sent them a photo saying it was just a hello to let them know we still alive! (cause yes they were worred that much about their adult kids) but my hand was in front of my face iwth the ring. My mom saw it right away, it took hubby mother forwarding it to her daughter and her daughter noticing, to realize what it was.

i couldn’t wait till we got home to tell someone so i had to do it in an email cause i was going nuts with excitiment, so i thought this was a cute way!

I wouldn’t be coy about it. I would just come out and say it.

I was with FI’s family when he proposed.  After I got over the shock, I called my parents.  They already knew it was going to happen though, because Fiance asked my dad and then my dad told my mom.

My parents already knew because SO asked them for my hand in marriage. When I told them they were like, “Oh yeah, we knew it would be soon!” And his parents knew too because his mom gave him her e-ring for me. Both our families knew before I did. Now I know they can all keep a secret!

We got engaged near his parent’s home. We stopped by afterwards and his nephews were over. We just played it casual and while talking to Sam and Noah dropped in “How do you guys feel about having another Aunt?” It worked out perfectly : )

We told my mom as soon as we burst through the door. It worked for my family. I’m sure it doesn’t work for everyone. It was more fun to be a little sneaky about it and do it in a cutesy way : )

My now Darling Husband asked my father for my hand. So they already knew.  I of course called them screaming and that’s when my Dad told me that my Darling Husband “did the right thing” my mom, who was a jewler for most of my life said, “you have the biggest ring in the family now” LOL. You can see where her priorities are.

My parents knew (and saw pics of the ring) before I did… I did call them after it happened though and every one else I know! 🙂

We didn’t say anything. We went to visit them and just waited for my mom to ask about the ring. She was like: What’s this? I answered: a ring.  Then she asked if it was what she thought it was… so; I just played with her for a bit.

We actually got engaged without the ring, and went to buy it a few days later for the purpose of that visit to my parents – we wanted to tell them and had this plan of making my mom freak out.

It worked out great! 🙂

I told my Fiance he had to call my dad or we weren’t doing it lol.  So dad knew, but I don’t know if he told mom.  I just called her after it happened and told her.  It wasn’t as big of a deal as I thought it would be.

We took a picture of us with my hand (with the ring) perched on his shoulder. We went over to my parents house to show them pictures of “the progress on the new house”..my mom was scrolling through the pictures on the camera and picked up on it right away when she saw the picture of us! It was so funny- she was shocked (even though she knew it was coming)

I sent my mom and sister a picture of the ring on their phones.  We were up in the mountains and I didn’t have service so they kept trying to call but couldn’t get through for 20 minutes, they were going crazy trying to figure out what the hell was going on, haha.

My Dad found out through facebook (yeah I know, bad daughter . . . in all fairness I thought the Fiance had to confirm the relationship change before it appeared)

I called my mother and told her J gave me an early Christmas present (proposed on Christmas Eve).  She asked what it was and I told her it was a ring.  She started crying right away, but was silent so I had to keep asking her if she was there.

I called my parents and said “Well, ***** gave me a certain kind of ring last night.” My mom was excited right away but my dad took awhile!
