So the big day is coming up in 3 months, eek, and i’m starting to feel incredibly overwhelmed by all the details. The budget has also doubled since we started planning, and I still want to look like a princess, but on a budget! Has anyone had experience using temporary hair extensions? I’ve been thinking about using clipins, and also getting tape-in extensions which cost a bit more and last longer. Do you think clipins would look too fake if I had my hair coloured to match them and had my stylist put them in? Help!

I used to wear clipins every day (and did what you suggested and had them coloured to match), and people were shocked to find out it wasn’t my real hair (if i ever told them).
Find a stylist that has experience working with them, and you’ll be golden 🙂

I used to work with a woman who would wear them most days. She wasn’t shy that they were extensions, but unless she told you (or saw her the next day with shoulder-length hair), you wouldn’t know. I say go for it. Go to Sally’s and get something that matches closely your hair, and take them to your stylist to get them cut to work with your hair. Taa-Daa!

@gracetravel: I had never worn extensions before my wedding and I got HeadKandy clips ins. They were awesome! My sister dyed them to match my red hair and no one had a clue. I have long thick hair, but it’s layered so the the style I wanted wouldn’t have looked right without the thicker extensions! Here’s a photo of me with mine 🙂

I wear clip ins all the time. They are great. I use to do all kinds of them
that I didn’t take out but they are such a pain and bad for your hair. The clip ins are very easy. The Sally’s ones are good just make sure you get the ones with good hair they are 100 and up usually and if you have thick hair I would get two packs. They are so easy once you get use to them. I’m also a hair dresser so it’s easy for me but I show my clients how to use them all the time.

I have Bellami extensions and at first I was quite disappointed (first time I watched them they suddenly became frizz-ville) but after dyeing them the appropriate colour, using some great conditioners and having their ends trimmed I absolutely love them now. I think they were frizzy due to having quite a bit of damage as I suspect they were originally dark and dyed to blonde. However after that, they haven’t shed much and after 3 months are still going strong, I really do love them!

@gracetravel: everyone I know who used extensions for their wedding used clip ins and you couldn’t tell at all.
