I love them and we want to get one when we move and can get a king. However, I would caution you against to knock off ones. We had one that was SO comfortable for almost 2 years, then all of a sudden, it sucked. Like, huge valley in the middle, we’d always roll into it, and very uncomfortable. The real ones come with a 10 year warranty so you’d be fine. (Note, ours was more ‘off the back of the truck’ knock off than something like Bob-o-pedic, if you have Bob’s stores around you).

The one downside is I think they can get kind of hot, because the air doesn’t circulate around you as well. I’ve seen commercials for a new one with a special service to make you cooler, but never saw it in person.

We just bought one.  It was ex-pen-sive but so far… so worth it.  Our old bed was really shitty, so it’s a bad comparison, but I would wake up every morning with a backache.  Not any more.  🙂

It does get kind hot.  You do get used to it a little though.  We had a foam topper on the old one and experienced it then, too.

We had one before we got our queen.  It was nice, but it was very hot.  We keep our house cold and sleep with a fan and I’d still wake up soaked in sweat.

I heard that in 2010 they changed the foam makeup so that now they aren’t so hot anymore.

I’m really interested in buying one, but just am not sure! I’ve only had coil beds all my life! Also, there are lots of badd reviews on them online, which really scare me!! I’m very worried about never having good sex again

My Boyfriend or Best Friend has a Tempurpedic and I absolutely hate it. When we get married, we are buying a normal spring mattress. Like PP have said, it gets really hot at night when you’re sleeping. It also doesn’t have any bounce/give (obviously), so for me, every time I roll over or flop on the bed, it initially feels like landing on sand/cement.

That said, he loves the thing. Test one out? Usually they have a 30 day in house trial offer. Its worth checking out.

They have a try out period on tempurpedics, but you still have to pay $175 to return the stupid thing if you don’t like it. And pay for shipping both ways.

I have one (well, now it’s the guest bed) but I never really liked it. Everyone that spends the night there seems to like it, but I just always woke up feeling like I had just slept on the floor, it’s so stiff. Maybe a foam topper would help that, but for the price, it’s not my #1 recommendation.

I really want to get one but a friend of mine just got one and said it really sucks for side sleepers, which I am.  I have a memory foam mattress topper on our guest bed and i love it so we will see! my parents have one and whenever we stay over there to watch the dogs my husband always says how much he loves it and wants one – i can’t get a good reading on them because i haven’t slept on one long enough to really know but having spent the night in one here and there i like what i’ve experienced.

Commenting so I can follow along — We are in the market for a new mattress and Darling Husband is really pushing for a tempurpedic. I really, really DON’T want one though and most of these comments are just reinforcing my stance. :-

We have one and we like it, although it is VERY heavy. If you are the type to use a bedskirt and want to wash it regularly, it will be a chore just moving the mattress to get to the skirt. Even our movers complained about the weight when we move houses and our bed was on the second floor. It does get a bit warm, but we have cooling sheets and a ceiling fan, so we are okay with that.

@lilbluebird:  OH YEAH it is SO heavy. And I only have a full size mattress. We live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building and there aren’t elevators, and that was the most ridiculous thing to move up those stairs. We don’t plan on moving that thing until our next move.

We used to have a 3″ mattress topper & it was HEAVENLY, but soo hard to leave! I’m not sure how I feel about the entire bed being made of foam- I’ve read some not great things about the chemicals used to make them & off-gassing. I think our topper was under $100 on overstock.com ($2 shipping sitewide- booyaa!). I would recommend that to start with if your not sure about it…

@PinkMagnolia:  @MCC919:  Yep, sex on that thing is not as enjoyable either. I can attest to that.
