I bought a new mattress about 3 years ago and went with a comforpedic instead of a temperpedic. Essentially they feel the same but a comforpedic sleeps much cooler than a temperpedic. I have never been too hot and it is amazingly comfy! I would suggest checking those out if you can. Also, just a tip for mattress shopping…when I got mine I bought the floor model and they gave it to me for a significant discount- $3,200 to $800. Yes, a lot of people have laid down on it to try it, but they called around to their least trafficked store and then they sent it to a plant for disinfecting. I thought it was well worth the discount and it wasn’t like anyone had actually slept in it or been on it for more than a few minutes. Something to think about if you are on a budget or a bargain shopper!

We bought a knockoff from Amazon, and I can’t sleep on anything else now, I love it so much! Sex isn’t weird on it, not sure why people have such issue. I don’t find it hard or like rolling over in “sand” either! I guess the mattress was just really what fit me and my husband. He’s a thrasher/rolls around a ton, so it stopped a lot of the motion transfer and allows me to sleep wel!!

We have a natural latex foam mattress and LOVE it. I wanted a Tempurpedic but just trying it in the store turned me off. I am a side sleeper and it was hard to flip from one side to the other.

We bought one in March.  We bought the least expensive (still $2k) because it seemed like the right amount of support but I think we’d like it to be a tad softer, it’s actually perfect now in the summer since the material reacts to heat.  We also got the pillows that come with it and I probably like the pillow over the mattress, lol!

I was concerned about it being hot and that sexy times would be weird.  I’ve had no problems with either of those things.  We had previously had Ikea’s version of the Tempur and so maybe we are just used to to the tempurature but it doesn’t feel any warmer than my old mattress.  Sexy time are fine. DH hasn’t complained about it and I don’t really notice a difference.

One thing that they don’t tell you that I found out… You CANNOT use a heating pad directly on the mattress. It will actually melt!

Huh – sex is not weird on it.  We have plenty of good sex.  🙂  And I’m a side sleeper.  They have several different kinds so you have to make sure you try them out.  The “Cloud” is a lot softer if you toss and turn and like a squishy feel.  I like a firmer bed so I like ours, but it’s one of the firmer ones they sell.

ETA: it did stink when we got it, but we put bowls of baking soda in the room and under the bed and it was completey gone within a week.

We have had our Cloud Supreme for about three years and I hate it with a passion. I have spent the last month sleeping on the couch which is an improvement over our bed. When I did sleep in the bed I would wake up in so much pain the next morning. My soreness got to the point that I was ready to go to the doctor to see if something was wrong with me. I can’t wait for a new matteras, Fiance has finally agreed that we can start looking even though he loves the Tempurpedic.

I have always dreamed of getting one! I wasn’t able to afford the big price tag so 1.5 years ago I got the Costco memory foam mattress. It took quite a while to adjust to, and it is firm, but I really love it now. It is not hot at all.

Boyfriend or Best Friend bought a new version memory foam mattress called an “i-comfort revolution”… At first it was great, but it is significantly hotter than my Costco knockoff and the I-Comfort has definitely gotten softer, and it’s only been 9 months. Not good. Both our backs hurt when we wake up in the morning. It cost the same as a Tempurpedic!

I would definitely suggest going to a mattress store and literally laying on the bed in the position you sleep in – on your side, stomach, whatever – for at least 30 minutes to see what you think. Don’t be fooled by some of the mattresses that are soooo heavenly soft in the stores – they will hurt your back in no time!

@MCC919:  i highly recommend NOT getting a tempurpedic mattress! DH and I were so excited to get one at the beginning of the year. It was delivered and that was when our nightmare began! This mattress stunk up our home so bad that we had to sleep in our apartment (instead of our NEW home) until it was finally removed. Seriously! The smell consumed our entire 2000 sq ft home. It was awful. It smelled like I was inhalling glue and those stinky markers. There was no way it was healthy. We did some research and found that tempurpedic mattresses contain VOC’s and produce off gassing that can last for weeks. This is very harmful to your health! before we know it, these things will be baned…just like lead paint. It has been scientifically proven that small animals have developed cancer from VOCs found in mattresses of their owners (it has not been proven in humans). so, being an animal lover that was enough for me to get that thing out of my house asap.

We ended up purchasing an organic, VOC free memory foam mattress which is the most amazing experience ever! The best mattress of my life. I sleep 90% better than I ever have! DH has scoliosiss and it has improved his condition! The mattress we bought is by Essentia. http://www.myessentia.com/

I highly recommend Essentia beds if you are looking for a memory foam mattress and are also health conscious. Like temperpedic though, they are pricey! But, how often do you buy a bed? honestly, this bed is the best money I have ever spent LOL

Feel free to PM me if you want any details about our mattress or anything

here is my post about it when it first happened:

I really, really, really wanted one… until I had a chance to try one out. Unless you get the ones with the fancy cooling gel, they get crazy, crazy hot! Also, I’ve heard a lot of people say that sex is really hard in them…
