Hi! My fiance and I are planning a destination wedding at Tensing Pen in Negril, Jamaica. Any other TP or Negril brides out there? I would love to hear about your experience!! Did anyone use the photographer used by TP? Any feedback on the other vendors? Did any have to pay the (outrageous) vendor referral fee? Where did you have your rehearsal dinner? I would love to hear from anyone!! Probably more questions to come

I just got married at moon dance villas in negril. Different venue – but AMAZING. We had our rehearsal dinner at the rockhouse pushcart restaurant. They closed it down for just our party. That was also amazing!
I have no complaints from my wedding or the rehearsal dinner in Negril – they were both perfect ๐

I didn’t have any vendor referral fees, but I can tell you about the vendors I used. No complaints they were all very very good. I don’t have my photos yet, so no review on the photogs yet.
For flowers we used Rose marie:http://www.floralfantasiesjamaica.com/weddings.htm
For cake we used Margaret Myrie – it was delicious and beautiful.
wassi art (local jamaican pottery artist) did our custom wedding favors (4 different mini vases/dishes) – these were a huge hit
If you would like contact info for margaret or wassi let me know.

How was the Rockhouse Pushcart for your rehearsal dinner – I booked the Rockhouse for the wedding and was wondering if Pushcart is worth staying onsite for the rehearsal dinner, as opposed to taking a trip off the property and going beachside or elsewhere on the cliffs.

We just booked our wedding for Tensing pen! so far everything has been great! we are going to get the reggea band, I am unsure about the photographer, I did not pay a vendor referal fee. I think what you are refering to is the 500 charge IF you don’t use their vendor and bring in your own. I have found all of their vendors to be great tho!
Still thinking about the rehearsal dinner, I am thinking maybe taking everyone to the beach for a change of scenery.
Shanique is the best, answers every questions very promptly.. GREAT experience so far. Only problem is trying to decide which room WE want to reserve for ourselves(we are reserving the whole resort for the weekend), they all look great!
Let’s keep in touch, maybe we can learn things from each other along the way, when is your date?

Just wanted to thank everyonne for their very helpful responses.
@ppplll6: Thank you so much for your reply! I’m so sorry that I’m so delayed getting back to you. Would love to hear more about your planning process! When is your wedding date? I was thinking the same thing about the rehearsal dinner, doing it somewhere on the beach. However, I am also considering Pushcart restaurant. I was originally looking into Rockhouse for our wedding but decided to go with Tensing Pen for several reasons, the most important being that I want my niece to be able to attend our wedding. (Rockhouse has a strict no children policy.)
Did you end up deciding on a photographer? I read some negative reviews on True Colors, the photographer recommended by Tensing. I’m curious why they recommend a photographer that so many of their brides have had negative experiences with.
Oh, and still have not chosen a wedding date. Working on that though :). Would love to keep in touch with you or any other TP/Negril brides! Feel free to message me!

hey guys! yay, im glad I found some tensing brides! Our date is May 18’th 2012. When is both of yours? We decided to go with associates of sun gold photography as well. They are an approved vendor for tensing so no extra fee. http://wpajamaica.com/
We decided on a package with them for
Up to 8 hours photography location time (available any day)
2 Photographers
2 hour next day shoot or day before for Rehearsal Dinner or Honeymoon/Trash the Dress Session
Copyright free CD/DVD containing high- resolution files of all usable images
1 DVD Photo Show (approx 100 images set to music)
Total 2400.00
We picked photographers NM and NR for our wedding. And there is no travel fee to tensing pen. ๐
When you are picking your date make sure to think about hurricanes. ๐ Also they book up fast. I called at the end of May this year to secure a date in NOV 2012(a year and half ahead of time) and the only times they had available that were not in the middle of hurricane season (June-Oct) were two dates in may.
We have never been to tensing pen so I am glad you have gone denspoohbear!
We are looking at 30-40 people. We will be paying the difference for the rooms not used but considering there is no venue fee and we are getting shaniques services I think it’s a bargain!
Still can’t decide on the welcome dinner place. I looked into ricks cafe but they havent responded at all to the three emails I have sent them so I don’t know. I am going to ask shanique for a recomendation.
are either of you doing an excursion for your guests??? We are thinking of offering two (to occur at the same time). Guests can pick which one IF ANY suit their fancy. We were going to pay for 30$ of each guest. We found one that is 30$ so that would be free (including transportation) and another for 60 so the guests would pay 30 themselves. Cheaper one is a trip to the cool resturant that is a mile out to sea on a sand bar. And the 60 dollar one is a rafting adventer down the river and a water fall tour. What are you guys doing and how do you feel about paying or not paying for the excursions?

@denspoohbear:
We have just started the website so we will see if it is a huge hassle but I think it will be worth it. We just picked a free site and are putting, pictures, travel tips and info, tips on restuarants and places to go in Negril, the weekend schedule, and things like that.
